Re: Official TNA DVD Help/Discussion/Review Thread

Don't remember it . I'm useless at remembering most TV matches and... wait, its actually coming back to me as I type . Amazing. Anywho, the match is really good from what I am now remembering lol. Better than their PPV match anyway... though was that the last PPV of 2011? So probably scratch AJ off the list of disappointing opponents for 2012 lol. But yeah, still poor Roode for the most part. Hardy, RVD and Sting were terrible opponents for him. Then he'd get a good opponent like Storm and have disappointing matches... then have a mix of good and bad in multiman matches that ended up sucking. Honestly as far as PPV goes the only matches from Roode's reign worth a damn are the Aries matches.

Re: Official TNA DVD Help/Discussion/Review Thread

Couple of points:

- Roode/Aries from HJ is good, but overrated
- Roode/RVD from Sacrifice is some quality shit, very underrated
- Ryan/Snow from BFG was awesome (come at me)
- Ray/Aries is TNA MOTY
- Aries is the WOTY in N. America

Re: Official TNA DVD Help/Discussion/Review Thread

Just re-watched Aries/Ray from Sacrifice. Such a physical match and incredible storytelling of the resilient Aries battling the ruthless Bully. The bruises on Aries' chest & back and the way he fought against Bully's dominance was made for a great face performance. Aries has been so amazing this year giving such strong babyface character work here then later on this year giving such a good heel performance with Hardy at BFG. Speaking of heel performances, Bully Ray was stellar in this match with Aries. I love the finish too.

Also, guys don't sleep on the tag match from Slammiversary. Such a thrilling contest.

Re: Official TNA DVD Help/Discussion/Review Thread

A bit late to the party but here I go:

~ Aries vs Roode Hardcore Justice is overrated. Really good nonetheless. ***1/2.

~ Aries vs Roode Destination X is incredible. My second favorite match of the year from TNA.

~ Aries vs Bully Ray Sacrifice is my TNA MOTY. I've pimped that match out so much that I think this entire forum knows my opinion on it.

~ Styles/Angle vs WTTCOTW Slammiversary is a fun match. Really dig it. Although, the streak of Aries in 2012 continues as he stole that show in the opener vs Samoa Joe.

~ I need to rewatch the Roode vs Style match that Shep always pimps. I'll see where I have it.

~ Joseph Park's matches might be the most overall entertaining bouts of the year.

~ Aries vs Hardy Bound For Glory has gone up MASSIVELY in my book when I gave it a 4th watch. I viewed it as a match that was worked in the fashion of Cena/Jericho from Survivor Series '08. It made me appreciate how it was done. Their ladder rematch was a brutal affair. I liked it.

~ Easy to claim Aries as "Mr. TNA 2012" WOTY for the promotion.

~ My PPV of the year from TNA is Sacrifice. Slammiversary is a close second since it was so entertaining overall.

And unrelated to 2012 TNA, but related to this thread: Against All Odds is utter trash. More power to those who can stomach it though.

Re: Official TNA DVD Help/Discussion/Review Thread

^Have you written a review or have star ratings for Sacrifice? I'd like to read it if you do

AAO this year I wasn't too impressed with. Maybe the weakest TNA PPV this year. Aries/Shelley was good. Again, Aries is the highlight of another TNA PPV in 2012.

Re: Official TNA DVD Help/Discussion/Review Thread

I forgot to write that AAO I was referring to 2010. I reviewed a few pages back. I hated it.

I could do a write up on Sacrifice. It's a really well rounded show. Quick star ratings for ya:

Joe/Magnus vs WTTCOTW ~ ***1/2
Gail Kim vs Brooke Tessmacher ~ **1/4
Devon Hughes vs Rob Eckos vs Rob Terry ~ *1/2
Jeff Hardy vs Ken Anderson ~ *1/4
Crimson vs Eric Young ~ 3/4*
Bully Ray vs Austin Aries ~ ****1/2
Kurt Angle vs AJ Styles ~ ***1/4
Robert Roode vs Rob Van Dam ~ ***1/2

I'll probably rewatch it for fun. Refresh some things and possibly write a semi-detailed or detailed review on it. Sounds like a fun way to pass some time tonight. I can always watch Bully vs Aries again.

Re: Official TNA DVD Help/Discussion/Review Thread

Question for some people about Aries/Roode from HJ. Is it really overrated? I mean, I haven't seen... anyone aside from me pimp it as being awesome and better than D-X match lol. Loads of people shit on it because of the finish back when it happened .

Re: Official TNA DVD Help/Discussion/Review Thread

I have it at ***3/4-**** but I need to rewatch it. I don't think it's better than the DX match but I don't think there's a big difference in quality between them. I didn't actually mind the finish, Aries kicking out after being knocked out legit surprised me which I thought was nice.

YES. I honestly always forget about Sacrifice's iffy middle matches but it's still fun. I remember liking Roode/RVD far far more than I thought I would.

It's a really fast paced and enjoyable match but I wouldn't call it a MOTYC. I actually prefer Joe and Magnus vs WTTCOTW. AJ/Kurt is a great team though, and Kurt working tag matches really suits his style imo. His hot tag in that match is super awesome.

****1/4. Awesome high-octane tag match where everything went right, with Angle being BOSS as the hot tag.

the aries vs bully ray match was really great, i liked when bully ray did that team 3d it looked so good why isnt that his finisher?

ill add this about the match though i didnt like the finish, to see aries, winning with that submission straight after the brain buster, i thought the match could of went a bit longer after this, and maybe another brainbuster. I dont think ive seen anyone tap out of that aries submission before. However i do agree with aries winning and i just finished watching the match just then.
