Slammy overall might be my favourite. Loved Bully/Park, Aries/Joe and liked the tag match.
Is Aries/Roode from Hardcore Justice your TNA MOTY? I need to re-watch it myself. I did watch their DX match again couple weeks ago and it still holds up as a strong contender for my MOTY.

Re: Official TNA DVD Help/Discussion/Review Thread

Yep, still my TNA MOTY. Top 5 off the top of my head:

Aries/Roode Hardcore Justice
Aries/Bully Sacrifice
Aries/Roode Destination X
Aries/Joe Slammiversary
Park/Bully Slammiverary

Safe to say Aries is my WOTY for TNA .

Re: Official TNA DVD Help/Discussion/Review Thread

If we are just talking matches I think Aries has a very strong case. If we also include feuds, promos, and all that good stuff, Roode is potentially a good choice for Wrestler Of The Year.

Re: Official TNA DVD Help/Discussion/Review Thread

As good as Roode has been all year, I think his matches are a HUGE letdown for him overall. He's had terrible opponents for the most part though, and aside from Aries, any good opponent he's had, the matches have disappointed (Storm and AJ) .

Re: Official TNA DVD Help/Discussion/Review Thread

I think the Lockdown match was somewhat disappointing but the Street Fight at Bound For Glory was quality hardcore match that did the heated feud they had this year justice.

Overall, I'd say I enjoyed Roode's reign as for as his feuds, promos, the way he was presented as World Champion more than Aries' reign as World Champion, but Aries had the better matches. Aries had better matches as X-Division Champion too which makes his case for stronger best worker.

Outside of his great matches with Roode as you mentioned the Bully Ray and Joe matches, then there's the Hardy matches which I enjoyed very much. Aries heel performance in the BFG main event was exceptional imo.

Re: Official TNA DVD Help/Discussion/Review Thread

TBH I hated the early going of the Storm/Roode BFG match. Felt slow and sluggish with the HATE~! being really forced rather than organic like theirs really should have. The finishing stretch is superb though and brought up the whole match for me. King Mabel Mo being out there was utterly pointless too.

Re: Official TNA DVD Help/Discussion/Review Thread

So taking everything into account (in-ring work, character, promos, feuds, title reign) overall would Aries still be your WOTY over Roode?

Re: Official TNA DVD Help/Discussion/Review Thread

Yeah. Aries was great as the cocky heel who believed he was the best, having great matches with the X-Division title. Then he transitioned pretty seamlessly into a babyface to go up against Bully and Roode, won the title and had great matches with it... and then went back to a heel again with nothing looking out of place. His feud with Bully Ray was great, stuff with Rude was good, and he's been a great DICK heel against Hardy, and it looks like he's going back to a feud with Bully, only this time he'll be a full on heel .

Re: Official TNA DVD Help/Discussion/Review Thread

I think you would like his performance at Bound For Glory with Hardy. His character work throughout that match really raised the quality imo along with the hot crowd, and Hardy who's a very good here too.

Re: Official TNA DVD Help/Discussion/Review Thread

Cal might like the Turning Point match too just because of the all the painful bumps Hardy takes

What did you think of the Roode/AJ impact match in may(?). That still might be my MoTY, still need to rewatch DX and BFG for their Roode matches. Aries as WOTY is a no brainer for me with how consistent he's been.

I think Slammiversary or Sacrifice would be my favourite PPV. I preferred the card on Sacrifice more, but Slammiversary felt like a bigger show which I really appreciated (plus it had Park/Ray )
