Holy shiz.

EDIT:

1. BFG Series – Semi-Finals: Samoa Joe vs. Jeff Hardy

This was good overall, but I just wasn’t feeling it. They didn’t manage to suck me into the match. Everything until the climax was a random moves fest, with no clear focus in strategies. Once again, Hardy was not believable on the offense, he didn’t sell himself as a guy who can beat a big badass like Joe, especially not with his faux high-flying schtick. The finish was good, though.

**1/2

2. BFG Series – Semi-Finals: Bully Ray vs. James Storm

This was better than Joe/Hardy, but the finish with 3 ref bumps pretty much leveled it in terms of overall quality. This was mostly a psychological, mind games-heavy warfare, that’s the area where Bully Ray fucking rocks. Roode’s interference was predictable, but his presence was totally badass-like, the way he was smirking and gloating was epic.

**1/2

3. Knockouts Championship: Brooke Tessmacher © vs. Tara

This was really rock solid, minus the “You’re my BFF!” drama.

**1/2

4. X Championship: Zema Ion © vs. Sonjay Dutt

Zema continues his streak of strong PPV matches (Doug, King) in this one. It’s a damn shame the X Division doesn’t get much TV time nowadays, because Zema is an awesome character. This was your typical back-and-forth cruiserweight affair, these guys worked hard. Sonjay’s offense is still very fancy and visually impressive, but they didn’t go over the top, everything was believable. This was good.

***

5. RVD vs. Magnus

Another solid match, but Magnus’ performance was top fucking notch. It’s just a shame they book him against painfully average wrestlers such as RVD. Bob was just going through motions here, he added nothing to the match. Fuck him! On the other hand, Magnus is the shit, he deserves a serious push.

**1/2

6. World Tag Team Championship: Christopher Daniels & Frankie Kazarian © vs. Kurt Angle & AJ Styles

Not as good as the Slammiversary classic, but this was damn close, right until the ending. I hate when refs go ringside to “check on wrestlers”, it’s not compelling at all, it doesn’t make any sense. That’s what happened here, and it hurt the overally match quality, IMO. But everything before that was excellent, there were two long FIP/hot tag segments, and your usual WTTCOTW awesomeness. There were some breathtaking spots.

***1/2

7. BFG Series – Finals: Jeff Hardy vs. Bully Ray

Now, this was bad. Just at the moment when this show needed a strong main event to save itself from mediocrity, they book something like this. This one had a big match feel, but it was nixed with all the “Harvey’s injured” drama. Again, Hardy completely failed to make me emotionally invested into his match, and once again – he didn’t look believable. I just couldn’t buy into him beating a badass like Bully Ray… and with a fucked up shoulder! Talking about the John Cena treatment there. At least Cena is one big mofo. And the match was bad.

*1/4

This PPV was a step down compared to the previous efforts (from Sacrifice to Hardcore Justice), but it was an enjoyable ride overall. It’s just a damn shame the only stinker was the most important match on the card, because everything before it was a bunch of decent/good ‘rasslin. The Armbreaker/Aries fight was good, and the whole segment was executed very well. Oh, and the “Officer Hogan” stuff is legit the most hilarious shit in recent wrestling history. Fucking LULZ!

Hardy/Bully rematch on Impact following No Surrender was much better. Which makes you want to punch the bookers in TNA for going the whole "injury" & schmoz route on PPV instead of TV.

when will TNA learn that ref bumps don't have to be in every match with major importance? They even had one in Roode/Aries from DX.

Ray is absolutely up there for my favourite storyteller in TNA. idk how id rank them all in order of preference tho, rays probably my favourite current worker. Roode's definitely up there too. think i might rank it something like:

Ray
Aries
AJ
Roode
Daniels
Joe
Storm
Magnus

and there's plenty other solid talent. have those guys all in and around the main event tho and you totally have my attention

id be willing to bet we'll see one in roode/storm (almost guaranteed) and the tag match tonight

- Hardy and Ray also had a good BFGS match few weeks before No Surrender
- the whole "injury" angle and ref bumps felt like someone accidentaly found Russo's old scripts
- you wanna ref bumps, watch Roode/Aries from Justice

BFG series owns if only because it gave tna an excuse to bust out some rockin TV matches. AJ/Angle and AJ/Storm off the top of my head but im probably forgetting some.

I think Ray and Storm might have had a good one too. I remember being pleasantly surprised at how strong bully came out of some his matches looking.

Yeah tonight should be filled with some. King Mo has to be used (not really) so a ref will probably take a bottle shot or something. Tag is a lock to be a brawl. Tenay will say TURN THEM LOOSE 5x times during it.

BFG series blew away last year's. Lots on TV with most getting good time. Plus their were bouts on Xplosion too. Bully vs Daniels happened on Xplosion. Haven't watched it yet, but I probably should RIGHT NOW. Bully truly is GREAT. Felt he should have been given a full push in 2002. It's 10 years later, but he got it.

I remember a lot of Daniels' stuff was on xplosion. He's got a MAGNUS match too i need to check out.

Did Angle/Daniels make tv? I don't think it did and it's something I'd really like to see.

Gonna say no. But Angle vs Eckos did. (FUCK)

I'm gonna go watch Daniels vs Ray, Daniels vs MAGNUS, & a random match I recall loving atm.

Random match being Kong/Hamada vs Sarita/Wilde aka the only knockouts tag titles match that mattered.

Hail, you watched Bully/Ray from Sacrifice yet? It's TNA's MOTY, and belongs Top 5-6 in their history. My review: http://www.wrestlingforum.com/11890584-post1506.html

Nah. It's still on my "waiting to view" list.

I know Shep put it over in a big way too. I have to get on it. That match was enough for me to want to order the PPV for. (seriously)

Ok, so is there anything else I'm missing as far as "legendary" TNA matches go? I got Unbreakable and the rest of 2005 in the bag. I know I should watch Harris/Storm Texas Death Match. I have the 6 TNA PPVs I just bought ready to view. (BFG 2006, Slammiversary 2007, BFG 2007, Turning Point 2009, Final Resolution 2009, & lol Against All Odds 2010) I'll actually give Angle/Hardy from No Surrender 2010 a chance. umm...idk what else is left that I haven't watched already. Oh and if one of you guys, OR ANYONE ELSE, has a link to MCMG vs Beer Money 2/3 Falls then plz share. I need it. Youtube doesn't have it up. Bastards.
