Re: Official TNA DVD Help/Discussion/Review Thread

I really enjoyed the BFG series, they put on solid matches on a weekly basis.

Heel Roode is great, the way hes being booked is horrible.

I want 2010 shows just for the Guns.

Ducks - Angels - Sacramento Kings - Buccaneers

Victory Road - on is where you'd want to start then. Unless Sacrifice appeals to you because they had a match there and won too.

Desmond Wolfe vs. Kurt Angle (Turning Point 2009) ****1/4

Desmond Wolfe vs. Kurt Angle (Final Resolution 2009) *****

Both great matches, and yes, 3 degrees of pain is a wrestling clinic.

I didn't have either break 4 stars, but I had fun watching them.

Random rewatch:

Petey Williams vs. Chris Sabin (Turning Point 2004)

7 years after, it's still an amazing junior's match, I especially enjoyed watching Petey back then, he was one good heel, and Sabin's comebacks were awesome. One of the X Division's forgotten classics, four stars easily.

The match that made me the Sabin fan I am today. I hold it in pretty high regard. Glad someone else does too. Deserves more credit.

Re: Official TNA DVD Help/Discussion/Review Thread

Some Sacrifice 2011 title stuff:

Kazarian vs. Max Buck ***1/4

Beer Money vs. Harris & Hardy ***1/2

Both very good matches with good storytelling. I'll say that tag match was slightly better and I had a lot of fun watching it. Harris was sloppy enough, but I guess we can explain that. Lolz at Braden Walker chants at the beggining. Absolutely loved the finish, though.

Re: Official TNA DVD Help/Discussion/Review Thread

Both of those Wolfe/Angle matches get a little overrated imo, mostly because I think the people that have rated them really high having seen the best of Nigel or they've never seen anything like that in TNA. The Turning Point match is great, probably ****, but the first fall of that cage match just puts me to sleep. Other two falls are very enjoyable though. ***3/4 for that one.

Re: Official TNA DVD Help/Discussion/Review Thread

Exactly. I know Nigel being so new to the promotion had to catch fans who weren't familiar off guard. Probably had them thinking "wow he can wrestle, this match is AWESOME" etc. I had no problems with either match in the end. I just wouldn't say they were great.

Re: Official TNA DVD Help/Discussion/Review Thread

I remember thinking that the Wolfe/Angle matches were brilliant at the time. Since then, I've gone back and revised Nigel's ROH work and even now, the Angle series still holds up for me. I prefer the Final Resolution match to Turning Point, but both are very easy for me to sit through and be entertained everytime.

Turning Point - ****
Final Resolution - ****1/2

As for some other stuff that's been talked about lately...

Petey/Sabin - Turning Point 2004
Very impressive, it's a shame that it's rarely mentioned due to the XXX/AMW match on the same card.
***3/4

Kaz/Buck - Sacrifice 2011
Basic but entertaining X-Style match, I recall Buck taking a bad bump on the head but everything else being pretty formulaic.
***

Beer Money/Hardy & Harris - Sacrifice 2011
Didn't like this a whole lot. Harris was sloppy, action wasn't exactly captivating, the Death Sentence finish was pretty neat though.
**1/2

Out of interest, what are people's MOTY 2011 for TNA?
