Agreed on the weight limit. We'd have never seen such awesomeness as Joe/Styles/Daniels if it was implemented and it just takes away the edge of the X Division. I say it's a bad move, unless they took all the old people from the X Division over the limit and put them in or around the TV title area, but that just seems like wishful thinking for the most part. Yeah the "division" is threadbare, where is Kendrick these days? Any faces would be welcomed now, and I'd prefer him infinitely the Sorenson.

I'll give Harris/Storm a look, can't think why I never saw it last night, must have just slipped my mind. Jarrett/Roode was likable, it helps I was a fan of Jarretts face run and the whole "Robert Roode" gimmick too. Sabin/Shelley/Low Ki/Daniels/Lethal and Dutt sounds like a very fun match, I'll have to check that out, though I'll probably skip the rest of the show if its as you say.

Sabin has always been a solid worker for me but never one I focused on that much, even though I mark for the Hesitation dropkick . Joe was always the guy that stood out for me when I first got into TNA, (even though I started watching in early 04, nobody just stood out much then, it was all solid) . The quality of his heel work in the Sacrifice match was a nice surprise to me, I'd definitely be down to watch that London match, I'll give it a search. Any more Sabin rec's are welcomed too

NWA/TNA Weekly June 18th - Chris Sabin/Paul London - ***1/2

Great, great match. Some fantastic opening chains before London hits an EPIC running shooting star off the apron. Sabin again puts some nice heel touches in with eye rakes etc, nothing too flashy and focuses on the match at the same time, crowd seems well split which is a nice add to the atmosphere. London does a nice job playing possum and hits a glam slam too, some nice power moves as well as high flying in this. Ultimately CM Punk ends up interfering to impress Raven or something and nails London with a DDT after he hit Sabin with another shooting star press. Great match by both men though for under 10 minutes. I should definitely give this a rewatch when it isn't 2am though, feel like I'll enjoy it more

Truly, no Sabin match will ever top Sabin/Joe from No Surrender '05 imo. Always will stand out as "the" Sabin performance to me, although he was fantastic in the acclaimed AJ/Petey/Sabin UX as well.

Glad you liked it. It was such a gem.

Saw your first post. Some more recs from Sabin's matches in TNA are vs Low Ki, aka "Senshi", from No Surrender & Bound For Glory 2006, vs Samoa Joe No Surrender 2005, Any Ultimate X match from 2004 (there were three of them), vs Jerry Lynn Destination X 2007, vs Lynn & Daniels Final Resolution 2007, vs Shelley Genesis 2009, vs Petey Williams Turning Point 2004. Oh and Guns vs Team 3D from Genesis 2007 is a blast of a match. It's not singles, but you get plenty of Sabin in it. Plus plenty of fun matches from Impact and other weekly PPVs. (I need to look over those again as I could mention some specifics outside of the Ultimate X's)

Elmination X from Genesis 2005 is a must see too. Amazing match.

Great, great match. Loved it. I was certainly happy that he even looked well vs Joe during the start of his dominate days. Made both leaving the match looking like a million bucks.

So I just got finished watching the two Senshi/Sabin matches from No Surrender and BFG '06 and I totally agree with what you said in the chatbox on the BFG match compared to the first. MUCH better in pretty much every way. I think it's just the combination of it being Sabin's home town, they seem more comfortable working together and Sabin himself just seems more up for it that in the previous match. The finish was great with the two kick outs from finishers since I legit thought at both points either of them would win from it, but I wasn't so big on the roll up from nowhere finish, even though it's a great moment for Sabin. With that said the No Surrender match is still pretty solid, just the jackass stuff at the end is a bit lame. Senshis dropkick to win it is BADASS though, almost as good as the hesitation dropkick

Gonna probably get round to watching Harris/Storm from Sacrifice 07 later on before actually going back to Sacrifice 05 and watching that.

They cut about 4 minutes in time from No Surrender & BFG too which I thought was an interesting take considering how BFG did top it. Came at you faster, harder, bigger, and better. The finish was fine with me. I thought it helped keep Senshi legit. Although it didn't mean much following as he would work only random X Division matches and go face. Meanwhile Sabin went heel so how funny is that?. The finishing MOVE of the No Surrender match was totally top notch. Not so much the fact that a blowup doll distracted him...but at least they came through with most of the match. That's what matters, haha.

Sweetness. Great brawl. Made up for their horrid Blindfold Steel Cage Match. Harris & Storm have a weird ironic thing about them in 2004 & 2007. Legit had a WMOTY & MOTY candidate one after another.

Victory Road 2004 vs Daniels/Skipper ~ Last Team Standing was utter nonsense. Botches, bad timing, the works. (DUD)
Turning Point 2004 vs Daniels/Skipper ~ Steel Cage. 5 stars. Often claimed as the best match in TNA history. (*****)

Lockdown 2007 ~ Blindfold matches...DUD city. Another flat out mess. (DUD)
Sacrifice 2007 ~ Texas Death Match: Fantastic brawl. Complete with intensity and was worked quite well. Easily the sleeper match of the entire year. Not just in TNA, but wrestling in general. (****)

It's very funny how that happened to work out not once, but twice with Harris & Storm. I always chuckle. At least they make up for their garbage by obliterating it with GREAT matches.

I'll post my thoughts on it instead...(KERRANG hole!)

TNA ~ Destination X 2007

1) Ghetto Street Fight ~ Homicide/Shawn Hernandez vs Brother Ray/Brother Devon ~ **

2) Double Bullrope Match ~ James Storm/Jackie Moore vs Petey Williams/Gail Kim ~ *3/4

3) Crossface Chickenwing Submission Match ~ Austin Starr vs Senshi ~ **3/4

4) BG James/Kip James vs Antonio Thomas/Romeo Roselli ~ DUD

5) TNA X Divison Championship/Two out of Three Falls ~ Chris Sabin(c) vs Jerry Lynn ~ ***

6) Elevation X Match ~ AJ Styles vs Rhino ~ 1/2*

7) Kurt Angle vs Scott Steiner ~ *3/4

8) Last Rites Match ~ Sting vs Abyss ~ DUD

9) TNA World Championship ~ Christian Cage(c) vs Samoa Joe ~ ***3/4

What a horrible PPV. Granted the main event was good and it was a nice job at making Joe's first championship shot feel big, but there was FAR too much crap and nonsense for it to save the show.

TNA ~ Hard Justice 2009

1) Steel Asylum Match ~ Christopher Daniels vs Chris Sabin vs Alex Shelley vs Amazing Red vs Jay Lethal vs Consequences Creed vs D'Angelo Dinero vs Suicide ~ ***3/4

2) Abyss vs Jethrow Holiday ~ **

3) Shawn Hernandez vs Rob Terry ~ N/R

4) IWGP Tag Team Championship ~ Doug Williams/Brutus Magnus(c) vs Robert Roode/James Storm ~ **3/4

5) TNA Knockouts Championship ~ Angelina Love(c)/Velvet Sky vs ODB/Cody Deaner ~ *1/2

6) TNA X Divison Championship ~ Homicide(c) vs Samoa Joe ~ ***

7) TNA Tag Team Championship/Falls Count Anywhere Match ~ Booker T/Scott Steiner(c) vs Brother Ray/Brother Devon ~ **3/4

8) TNA Legends Championship ~ Mick Foley(c) vs Kevin Nash ~ *3/4

9) TNA World Championship ~ Kurt Angle(c) vs Sting vs Matt Morgan ~ **

Honestly, this show was fine. Proves how 2009 wasn't really a bad year for TNA. Just a dull/uneventful one. I'd say 2009 was the best year in the TNA on TV days behind the GREAT 2005/2006 ones. It has 07, 08, 2010, and 2011 easily beat. Since most of those years were filled with shit.

Main complaint about Hard Justice was the finish to the tag team championship match. Fun brawl. I would have went *** on it, but the the AWFUL and idiotic end forces me to lower it by 1/4*. Everything other than the finish was fine. One hell of a opener the show had. Might not have been everyone's favorite gimmick, but boy did the strong talent deliver there. Such a shame to see how only two years later that division is reduced to NOTHING.
