Re: Official TNA DVD Help/Discussion/Review Thread
I'm not a fan of giving ratings, but I can describe AGA07 to you.
First of all, No Surrender 2007 was awesome. It's one of the best PPVs TNA put on in 2007.
AGA07 didn't fair quite as well I'm sorry to say.
LAX vs. Team 3D: Little Italy Streetfight - Utterly ridiculous. Back then TNA seemed to have a hard on for doing these matches with ridiculous sets (the most recent example would be the Fishmarket match) This one was just silly though, and not in a good way. These two teams had a match at DX that was much better.
Senshi vs. Austin Starr - Average match. Nothing to get too excited about. Their match at D-X was much better.
Christy Hemme vs. Big Ft Oily Naked Guy: Tuxedo Match - Do you even want me to comment on this? It sucked.
Lance Hoyt vs. Dale Torborg: Basebrawl II - OK big man match. There were some minor botches, but given Torborg not being a regular, it wasn't too horrible.
AJ Styles vs. Rhino: Chain Match - I couldn't understand why this was a chain match as they never really built the match up to be that (and they easily good have. Just say that this is the match Rhino wanted so AJ couldn't run away from him) However, the match was pretty good as expected from these two. One of the best matches on the show.
Lynn vs. Sabin: X Title - Surprisingly bad match. Very slow and the fans were dead silent the entire time. DX07 match was much better (been saying that a lot)
Petey Williams & Gail Kim vs. James Storm & Jackie Moore - This was actually a fun match. The teams had a pretty good Bullrope match at DX, but this match was fine too.
Sting vs. Abyss: Prisonyard Match - I actually enjoyed this match. Unlike the Little Italy match, the set up for this one was actually pretty fucking cool. Nice violent hardcore match. This was probably my favorite match on the card.
Angle vs. Cage; World Title - Good match, but nowhere near as good as their recent work. I think the problem was that Cage was clearly defined as a heel, but Angle wasn't defined clearly one way or the other, so it was kind of awkward. Also having Joe in Angle's corner seemed kind of weird because they had been trying to kill each other over the previous months (and it kept Joe from having a match of his own)
Overall, I'd say you should only get this one to complete your collection if your a die hard TNA and want to have every PPV on DVD. The only match that I thought was really really really good was Sting vs. Abyss, and some of the other matches were pretty awful, most notably the disappointing Lynn vs. Sabin match.
