Re: Official TNA DVD Help/Discussion/Review Thread

There's only one **** match in TNA 2011 so far (Contract Match). Which is not good, last year was better. But there is whole bunch of ***+ matches. Very good/great matches, but not MOTYCs or something like that.

TNA's Best of 2011

1. Last Man Standing: AJ Styles vs. Bully Ray (Slammiversary) ***3/4+
2. Austin Aries vs. Low Ki vs. Jack Evans vs. Zema Ion (Destination X) ***3/4
3. Kurt Angle vs. Jeff Jarrett (Lockdown) ***3/4
4. Beer Money vs. Motor City Machine Guns (Genesis) ***3/4
5. AJ Styles vs. Christopher Daniels (Destination X) ***1/2
6. AJ Styles vs. Matt Hardy (Victory Road) ***1/2
7. RVD vs. Jerry Lynn (Destination X) ***1/2

3 and 4 could go down, only seem them once and it's been a while. Destination X is clearly their best ppv this year.

Re: Official TNA DVD Help/Discussion/Review Thread

Immortal Forever was a great DVD, I loved it from top to bottom. The only thing I would have changed was the end via to make it more of a epic like ending. Maybe have Bischoff or Hogan rant on Jeff Hardy for his shit that cost the team the title. That could have been a great lead on for a returning face Jeff Hardy.

9/10

Re: Official TNA DVD Help/Discussion/Review Thread

TNA in 2011 is the same story as 2010, lots of solid-good matches, but very few cracking the ***1/2+ ratings.

In 2010, nothing got **** from me apart from...
Kurt Angle vs. Mr. Anderson - Lockdown 2010
MCMG vs. Beer Money - Whole F'n Show
MCMG vs. Gen. Me - Bound For Glory 2010 (Not 100% on this, I'd need to check)

As for 2011...
Kurt Angle vs. Jeff Jarrett - Against All Odds 2011 ****1/4
Low-Ki vs. Austin Aries vs. Jack Evans vs. Xima Ion - Destination X 2011 ***3/4

I'm yet to see Styles/Ray but I can't think of anything else I find worth mentioning.

That Immortal DVD looks alright, I'd consider watching the documentary, I've no interest in re-watching those matches though.

Re: Official TNA DVD Help/Discussion/Review Thread

The only TNA DVDs I own are BFG 08 and No Surrender 09. They are both good DVDs but I wouldn't give them both 5 stars. For BFG 08 I'd say a 4 and for No Surrender 09 I'd say 4.5

Re: Official TNA DVD Help/Discussion/Review Thread

I thought BFG 08 was a much stronger show than No Surrender 09 actually. The only notable things I can recall from NS09 are A.J's title-win and a solid but not great Daniels/Joe match.

Re: Official TNA DVD Help/Discussion/Review Thread

BFG 08 had a better match card but NS09 was the better watch for me.

RVD vs Jerry Lynn (Destination X 2011)

Very good nostalgia match. RVD seemed motivated (for change) and Lynn still looks the same as always. It's amazing that this guy in late 40s works this hard, and wrestles the same style like 20 years ago. The spots were pretty much the same as always, story telling was simple, I liked this. Not the MOTYC, but still very enjoyable. ***1/4

TNA Cross the Line 3 Pack: Part 1

Turning Point 2009

Amazing Red vs Homicide - ***
Knockouts match - Didn't watch
British Invasion vs MCMG vs Beer Money - ***1/2
Tara vs Awesome Kong - Six Sides of Steel - ***1/4
Team 3D and Rhino vs Hernandez, Matt Morgan & The Pope - **3/4
Lashley vs Scott Steiner - **
Kurt Angle vs Desmond Wolfe - ***3/4
AJ Styles vs Christpoher Daniels vs Samoa Joe - ****

Pretty good show and considering the price I paid for the 3 pack, I'm very pleased. AJ/Joe/Daniels wasn't nearly as good as the one from '05 but I still enjoyed it. Angle/Wolfe was pretty good, as was the triple threat tag match. lulz at Lashley/Steiner and I have no idea the story behind anything in the six man tag match but it was alright. Fun show.

Part two: Final Resolution 2009

British Invasion vs MCMG - ***1/4
Tara/ODB - Skipped (Can't stand ODB)
Feast or Fired - * (Lame gimmick and boring)
Morgan/Hernandez/Pope/Suicide vs 3D/Rhino/Neal - **
Lashley vs Steiner - **1/2
Foley/Abyss vs Stevie/Raven - ***
Kurt Angle vs Desmond Wolfe - ****1/4
AJ Styles vs Christopher Daniels - ***3/4

This show was alright. The fucking eight man tag gave me a headache. No idea who the heel team was until the end and the rules were ridiculous, as was the chair shot situation. Horrible TNA booking at it's finest. Loved Angle/Wolfe and AJ/Daniels. The Foley Funhouse match was enjoyable. The feast or fired matches are rather slow and lame. Didn't like this show as match as the first but I'd still rewatch a couple of the matches.

I'll probably watch Against All Odds tomorrow.

Re: Official TNA DVD Help/Discussion/Review Thread

I'd throw away the last disc and just be content with the Angle vs. Wolfe shows.
