Re: Official TNA DVD Help/Discussion/Review Thread
If I could only pick six (I didn't own several already), I would choose:
Lockdown 2006
-Awesome six-man X-Division opener
-Low-Ki vs. Christopher Daniels
-Awesome X-Division XScape match
-Samoa Joe vs. Sabu
-Really fun tag in Team 3D/Team Canada
-Christian/Abyss is as good as Styles/Abyss
-Sting's Warriors vs. Jarrett's Army is probably the best Lethal Lockdown match ever (tied with 2007) and one of the best WarGames ever.
Slammiversary 2006
-Team 3D/James Gang is a solid brawl
-Six-man 20-minute X Division elimination match
-Nash/Sabin is actually a lot of fun
-Phenomenal Angels/AMW is just a classic-style tag team match
-Joe/Steiner is an ugly, entertaining dream match
-KOTM is good and has an epic ending, which leads nicely into my next choice...
Bound for Glory 2006
-Fun X Division battle royal opener
-Team 3D/AMW/New Age Outlaws/Naturals in a star-studded tag match
-Joe/Runt/Raven/Abyss is another good monster's ball match
-Sabin/Senshi is a good X Division title match
-Christian/Rhino is a solid brawl
-Phenomenal Angels/LAX is a great tag match, and IMO their best match of the series
-Jarrett/Sting is a classic main event, with brawling, wrestling, a good ref bump, and a happy ending.
(Lockdown, Slammiversary, and Bound for Glory make a great trilogy for the Sting/Jarrett feud, btw)
Slammiversary 2007
-Not a popular choice, but I loved this ppv since it first aired.
-Rhino & Senshi vs. LAX is a shockingly exciting tag opener
-Sabin/Lethal is a good X Division match
-Young/Roode is fun and really has a feel-good ending.
-The Dudley Boys vs. A Steiner AND a Road Warrior!
-Abyss/Tomko is a good, ugly weapons brawl
-KOTM is easily the best incarnation of the match and one of the best of matches of the year
Bound for Glory 2007
-Probably the best TNA ppv ever and the best ppv of 2007.
-Ultimate X opener
-Tag title match is surprisingly fun
-Lethal/Daniels is a really good x division match
-Team 3D/Steiners had a fun brawl
-Gauntlet match to introduce the KO division is a great way to start.
-Joe/Christian is as good as the other two matches they had, and this one has a clean win.
-Monster's Ball has the greatest assemblage of actual monsters here.
-Angle/Sting is the greatest BFG main ever, one of the best TNA matches ever, and certainly one of Sting's best matches.
Bound for Glory 2008
-X Division Asylum match
-Abdul/Bashir is a good X Division match
-Beer Money/Team 3D/Abyss & Morgan/LAX in a four-way 20-minute "Monster's Ball" match is just ridiculously, violently fun.
-Styles/Booker/Christian is an interesting three-way.
-Angle/Jarrett is easily their best match together, TNA MOTY, and a MOTYC.
-Joe/Sting is just a huge epic brawl.
I tried to pick only legitimately good ppvs, and not acquired tastes.
