Seemed to be a pretty solid show last night which is a good thing. This year has been a little lackluster all around in my opinion. Hopefully next year will be an improvement on things.

As far as the best World Title matches:

My favorite is Daniels/AJ from Final Resolution 09. I thought it was tremendous, great action, and it was great to see these 2 in the main event going for the biggest prize.

**** 1/2

I actually liked Booker/Joe from Victory Road 08 too. Wasn't the greatest match technically speaking, but man did it have a good old school feel to it, and had a pretty good build I thought. It also felt like an important match, I guess one of the reasons I enjoyed it was that I wasn't expecting to like it all, but it was the complete opposite. I don't want to rate it star wise as I've only seen it once and don't remember a lot of details, I remember liking and enjoying it fairly well though.

Angle/Joe from Lockdown 08 was pretty awesome too.

Also, anyone else not finding TNA DVDs at their local Best Buys anymore? The 5 closest Best Buys around me have absolutely ZERO dvds anymore. Anyone know why?

Probably did not sell well at all so why bother bringing them in

Thought I would rank all of TNA's PPVs this year. I honestly don't think I would recommend one of them for the standard $35 ppv price but maybe some for DVD price
1) No Surrender (angle/hardy, dreamer/AJ, guns/bucks)
2) Victory Road (mcmg/beer money, lethal/flair, pope/angle)
3) Slammiversary (angle/kazarian, AJ/lethal, Doug/Kendrick)
4) lockdown (angle/Anderson, AJ/pope)
5) against all odds (AJ/Joe)
6) genesis (AJ/angle, Desmond/pope, red/Kendrick)
7) final resolution (Doug/AJ, guns/bucks)
8) sacrifice (Doug/kazarian, AJ/Rvd, guns/3G/beer money)
9) bound for glory (guns/bucks, angle/hardy/Anderson)
10) destination x (ladder, ultimate x)
11) hardcore justice (Rvd/sabu)
12) turning point (3D/guns)

Victory Road had a few very solid matches. Very slow first hour and a super anticlimactic main event but was overall fine.

NS had very little offensive stuff and had 3 good matches.

Slammy had a bad main event and 3 bad matches in a row towards the beginning but was fine

Didn't care much for lockdown but on rematch it was fine

Against all odds was a well booked tournament

Genesis had the super offensive Daniels/Morley match but nothing else on the show was too horrid

FR was ok until the final hour which was awful

Sacrifice was a boring show really

BFG was a total shit sandwich with two good pieces of bread and everything in-between being bad

Destination x had a fine first few matched but went downhill after the UX

Hardcore justice was a waste of time

Turning point had nothing besides one match

I'd honestly put the whole f'n show over mostly all of these. Not a good ppv year for TNA at all

I ordered these 2007 PPV's on Friday:

Destination X
Slammiversary
Bound For Glory
Victory Road
Lockdown
Hard Justice

I also got the 'Top 50 Moments In TNA History DVD'.

All averaged out at about 5.20 (inc. p & p). 2007 was the year that TNA began to start getting shit (until Hogan and Bischoff came in, anyway) but there was still some decent stuff.

Nice haul. DX '07 is to TNA what The Great American Bash 2000 was to WCW: silly, loaded with gimmick matches, but also very entertaining and capped off with a great main event.

Slammiversary is a mess, but nonetheless very entertaining, mostly for Sabin/Lethal, 3D/Animal & Steiner, Sting/Daniels, Tomko/Abyss, and the best KOTM match ever.

Bound for Glory is probably the best TNA PPV ever, and possibly the best ppv of 2007.

Victory Road is like a solid episode of iMPACT!, nothing more.

Lockdown was horrible. The main event was great, but after the blindfold match, the electrified cage, and a couple of other so-so bouts, it was hard to care.

Hard Justice was weak. Not as horrible as others have said, but still not very good.

Default Re: Official TNA DVD Help/Discussion/Review Thread

Finished watching No Surrender '10 today. I liked this event so much that when I bought the "Twin Pack," I made sure to watch this one first. Another poster said this was the best TNA PPV of the year, and I completely agree. It's also one of my favorite ppvs of the year, period.

Motor City Machine Guns vs. Generation Me
Some people call them spotfests, others classics. I think it's both. These two matches between MCMG and Gen Me were just full of awesome moves and an interesting idea: that there's a team fasther than MCMG. This match is a lot of fun, given enough time, and a great opener.

***1/2

Douglas Williams vs. Sabu
I'm not going to lie: this is an awesome pairing. Williams is work-rate through and through, and Sabu, though joked about for botching, always gives 100%, even at 45. It wasn't the classic that it would have been, say, seven or eight years ago, but it was still fun for what it was.

**3/4

Velvet Sky vs. Madison Rayne
Why did it have to be the knockout's match? The first dud on the card. Typical Divas match. Yes, I meant it.

**

Abyss vs. Rhino
If you've seen one Abyss brawl, then you really have seen them all. Formulaic, but entertaining for what it was. Not as good as their FCA match from '06. Abyss has lost a few steps, and gained a few pounds.

**1/2

Sting & Kevin Nash vs. Jeff Jarrett & Samoa Joe
I got nothing but love for the WCW legends, but this match was weak. This storyline went NOWHERE, and this was one of the stops along the way. Sting can hardly the move, the action is pretty standard, and it all feels like it belongs on iMPACT!

**1/4

AJ Styles vs. Tommy Dreamer
A solid "extreme" type match. Never quite the classic as Dreamer/Anderson, but anyone who thinks Dreamer doesn't give 100% is nuts. This is a great cocky heel/babyface match, and both play their roles perfectly. The action is good and the match features one of the most cringeworthy endings I've ever seen.

***1/4

Kurt Angle vs. Jeff Hardy
Match of the year? Hardly. A solid finisher-fest for the first twenty minutes, but then it goes on 10 minutes too long. If you watch big WWE matches, you'll see that no one ever hits their finisher on an opponent more than three times during a match, especially if they've kicked out twice (the exception might be Triple H vs. Sheamus from Extreme Rules, a match that I hated). Here, Hardy hits the twist of fate and swanton so many times that it hardly meant anything by the end. Same for Angle and his finishers. There is such a thing as too many finishers. Also, the overtimes were pointless. Nothing exciting happened, and it just felt like the match had already ended, and then culminated in a "draw." I get what they were trying to do, but it was just more typical TNA overbooking.

***1/4

Mr. Anderson vs. The Pope
Good main event. Better than their match at AAO, which I still enjoyed, but didn't have the same heat. The crowd was dead, but they popped for the right moments. A solid prelude to BFG.

Although I haven't seen them all, I think my favorite TNA PPV this year was Lockdown. Great opener with RVD/Storm, some solid stuff in the middle with the X Division Title, Xscape, & a 3D/Band match that was much better than it had any right to be. And it was capped off with a great Triple Main Event. Angle Vs. Anderson is probably my pick for TNA PPV match of the year. AJ Vs. Pope, a pretty good World Title match, and an exciting Lethal Lockdown to close. Not the best Lockdown, but with TNA PPVs being so uneventful this year, I'd say that this is the one that definitely stood out the most.

I'll have to agree with you G. I've only seen 4 TNA ppvs from this year but the best one by far was Lockdown. It was really entertaining all the way through bar the awful Nash/Young match. Angle/Anderson was a classic and TNA's MOTY for sure.

Wasn't jarrett/aj from 3/29/10 a World Heavyweight Title match as well? Even if it wasn't, that was a great match.

It was great TV match, but I think it was non-title.
