Re: Official TNA DVD Help/Discussion/Review Thread
I've finally gotten around to catching the good shit from last year's Turning Point.
Enjoyed the opener of Amazing Red vs. Homicide, which had a decent story going that Homicide is a ...., and then he gets embarrassed in a very surprising and visually pleasing finish. ***
Kurt Angle vs. Desmond Wolfe, while not perfect, and certainly there's potential for even better out of the two, was a major surprise to me. Obviously when you have Kurt Angle colliding with Nigel McGuinness, you're gonna have a hot match, but what surprised me was the psychology which led to the excellent finish. I cannot explain just how much I adored that finish, and it was a hell of an introduction for Desmond Wolfe. And some TNA marks will say "Well, he went against Angle, of course he looked great and that's why he fizzled out." Except that he as Nigel McGuinness had a proven track record. This is the match you get when you just two great wrestlers get in the ring and have a great professional wrestling match. ****, and if TNA will quit pussyfooting around with Wolfe, there's potential for these two to have the greatest match in the history of the company, even better than AJ vs. Joe.
AJ vs. Joe vs. Daniels felt very new yet familiar compared to there 2005 spotfest. It was still a spotfest, but I could feel more meaning and intensity behind every move in the match. It also helped that the choreography was almost on Dragon Gate level pacing, and none of the moves felt forced into the match. Everything just flowed so smoothly. Sorry Cena and DX, but TNA outdid you this time in the threeway department. ****1/2
