A.J Styles vs. Kurt Angle-January 4th **3/4-Finisher whore-fest. It was fun live but it gets worse for me on every re-watch.

Anyway, Back to business! Business being Kurt Angle's Top #10 Rankings.

Kurt Angle vs. The Pope "D'angelo Dinero"-Victory Road 2010

Spoiler for Match Story:
Angle and Pope trade hammerlocks and takedowns as they feel eachother out. Pope only really gets going after catching Angle out with a big shoulder which had Angle go to the floor to recuperate, and boy did he. Once he comes in he hits a powerbomb right off! He keeps grounding Pope and forces near-falls further wearing Pope out. Pope suplexed Angle out of a sleeper hold in order to catch his breath. It served him well but just as he was getting things to go his way, he ran right into a Belly To Belly.

Pope was able to catch Angle out. He tried to go for a German but Angle being a master of German's had it scouted. Luckily Pope was able to adjust and hit an STO. Pope thought he had Angle in a prime position for the running knees finish but Angle did his homework and saw it coming. After some German's, Angle wants the finish. Both men went back and forth with Angle forcing some more near-falls.

But Angle cost himself by running into the steel post which Pope followed up with a Codebreaker. He wanted to finish Angle off with the running knees but Angle floated over and hit the Angle Slam. Pope tried to counter the Ankle Lock but Angle always finds a way to lock it in and he gets the win.

***1/4

Just slightly better than their iMPACT! match from Thanksgiving last year, and this one had double the length. Pope seemed to have some ring rust and didn't do a while lot. Angle was very formulatic in his approach. I thought Angle might have targeted the arm more considering Pope was out for 3 months with an arm injury but he just kept wearing down Pope with headlocks and takedowns. Nothing all that special here, just solid stuff. Decent return from Pope.

Next up: Hernandez.

There was no story to their match. The selling sucked in it. They whored out their finishers. It made every other wrestler on the roster that has gotten pinned by any of their finishers weak. Both men no sold the finishers because right after they kicked out they were back up doing cool moves and doing more finishers on each other.

The match was 20 minutes of finishers. I really canít put it clearer than that. It looked to me that both guys just said to each other before the match "Fuck everything, letís just go out there and hit a million finishers on each other".

To me, the only thing that the Impact match had that was going for it was that it was just mindless fun.

Their Genesis match on the other hand had a really good pace that was different from their other matches. Everything they did in that match mattered. The heel turn at the end was a surprise. Both men pulled out their finishers and other nice moves at the perfect times and they actually sold them like death in here.

Just my opinions though.
Well said. I think I enjoyed the 1/4 match because it was mindless fun. The Genesis match just seemed like they had done everything they could to each other. The heel turn was good, but if you watch the way it went down, it was a COMPLETE rip-off of the end of WrestleMania X-Seven.

Flair comes out, no one is sure why he's there. He pulls the ref away when Angle is getting a pin, Angle chases Flair, then into the ring, as Angle is chasing Flair he runs into a clothesline by Styles, then Flair gives Styles the belt, Styles shockingly hits Angle, and then celebrates with Flair. A big surprise, but all too familiar.

If you're going to steal the ending of a ppv, don't steal the ending to what many consider the greatest ppv of all time.

I dunno, there are alot of false finishes and finisher attempts in the 1/4 match but I personally don't feel like it took anything away from the match. To me it's all about execution and there have been so many great matches over the years with similar structures with finishers and they don't really seem to be as criticized for it as the 1/4 match.

Just my opinion though, I would never go under **** for it but that's just me.

Has anyone else been having this problem with TNA dvd's? We used to have TNA dvds at Walmart and Best Buy here all the time but for the past 5 or 6 months there have not been any TNA DVD's in their stores, only WWE.

Still plenty on TNA dvds in best buys around here. Not so much wal marts though.

And, I dont have a MOTY yet for TNA. Haven't seen too many ppv matches or anything to have any candidates. I was going to say AJ/Daniels from FR, but I just looked and thats from dec of 09, so im out.

Yeah we haven't had any TNA DVDs in our WalMart in months, and FYE is scarce too. It kinda sucks.

Best Buy hardly had any last time I was there and besides that FYE is the only other place I can find them. You can get them dirt cheap at FYE though, most of the DVDs are under $10.

Fuck, really? I have one like 2 minutes away from my place and I never checked there before. Thanks a lot.

Edit: So I just got Bound For glory 2006 and Kurt Angle Champion dvd's from FYE. Does anyone have any quick rating for the matches on them?

BFG 06, you at least have two **** matches in Low Ki/Sabin and AJ & Daniels/LAX. Christian/Rhino was solid and like a ***1/4 match. Monster's Ball ***. Everything else would go under *** but nothing bad really

The Angle DVD
Angle/Joe I (Genesis 06) ***3/4
Angle/Joe II (Turning Point 06) ****1/4
Angle/Joe III (Final Resolution 07) (Ironman) ****
King of the Mountain (Slammiversary 07) ****1/4
Angle/Joe IV (Hard Justice 07) **3/4. The ending kills this match with me and killed TNA with me for a while.
Angle/Jay Lethal (No Surrender 07) ***3/4
Angle/Sting (BFG 07) ***1/2
Angle/Sting (Impact October 07) **
Angle/Joe (Lockdown 08) ***1/2 (Some people love this match. I'm kind of torn in regards to it.)

Kind of wish that Angle's debut match was included against Abyss. Or even Angle's match against Abyss from Turning Point 08 (although I think it came out before then).

I really dont get why the ending ruins the match so badly for most people. The match itself was on its way to being a classic and than that ending happened and people bashed the entire match. Yes it was obvious that Angle would win and that Karen would trick Joe but it doesnt mean the match itself was bad. If people are really basing their opinions on if a match is predictable or not than we should have every Undertaker Wrestlemania match as a DUD aswell because the outcome of all of his matches at Wrestlemania is obvious aswell.
