Re: Official TNA DVD Help/Discussion/Review Thread

Only 8 matches on the DVD and they really weren't the best of 09. Wow.

First off Anderson's pre-match intro was great. I wish his WWE career didn't get fucked up because he oozes charisma. Don't tell me to start watching Impact because that's not happening. Good 10 minute match here. It suffered from some of Angle's usual tendencies but I dug the heel work from Anderson.

Kurt Angle vs. Mr. Anderson (Destination X)
Okay, what they did at the start was fucking awful. After being disrespected, beaten and 'carved up' Angle was out for revenge, and yet here he is happy to trade headlocks. If this was their first match it would've been fine but given the personal nature of the feud it was just bad. The rest of the match is pretty solid. Kurt does a decent job selling the arm and the finish was suitable. Overall it wasn't bad but I thought they accomplished more in half the time at Against All Odds. They have a better match in them.
**1/2
Agree with your thoughts on both matches pretty much, I'd probably go around *** for both but the 1st match was definitely the better of the two.

Hopefully at Lockdown they deliver something worthy of a huge blowoff match.

Re: Official TNA DVD Help/Discussion/Review Thread

I actually really dug the Angle/Anderson Destination X match, I thought Anderson's promo at the end wasn't quite right though. Seemed sorta mixed up. I'm yet to see their AAO match but if it was better then I can't wait. I will say though, for Destination X as a whole, the crowd were terrible for everything but the Ladder/UX matches. You could hear a pin drop during Angle/Anderson.

It's good to see Angle bulking up again too, he looked so frail last year so it's a relief to see him back to his 'ol self.

Angle vs Anderson

AAO *** (great heel tactics by Anderson)

DX ***3/4 (fuck the crowd, I like the mat based wrestling)

Ladder ***1/4 (entertaining bout)

Kurt Angle vs Mr. Anderson-Ladder Match-4/5 Impact-****

Right up there with Kurt/AJ from 1/4 as TNA TV MOTY so far, both guys worked their ass off and it showed. What was really great is that it wasn't anywhere close to normal TNA ladder match full of acrobatics and flips, which can be still good if done well but this was something much more. Physical and brutal from start to finish, and the spots they did come up with were pretty original and felt important in the context of the match. Angle is the man as far as I'm concerned, he gives everything his has in that ring and Anderson showed alot in this match as well, definitely one of my favorite matches of 2010 so far.

Nice Review Taroostyles, I can't wait to see this match on Saturday now. I'm not as high on AJ/Angle but I did re-watch it and liked it a hell of a lot more. Previously I had it at **3/4 but I've moved it upto ***1/2, It's alot more entertaining when not writing play-by-play along with it :P.

From the looks of things, Angle/Anderson seems like an early feud of the year contender, with solid *** (atleast) matches all round. I just hope Lockdown has a great payoff.

I didn't think either of the Angle/Anderson PPV matches were ***.

Anybody got a download link for this? I don't feel like downloading the whole show or watching on dailymotion.

Sabin/AJ/Petey Final Resolution 2005 ****1/4

What a match. Great stuff, particularly from AJ, sold the injury to the left arm perfectly. Great ending too, not my favourite Ultimate X match ever, but it's up there.

X Division Ladder Match (Destination X)
Nice spotfest. They didn't exactly wow me and I thought the flow could have been better but as an exhibition of ability and athleticism it delivered. I'd probably put it on the same level as MITB VI. Good but not great.
***

Generation Me vs. Motor City Machine Guns (Destination X)
I'm not the biggest fan of spot based matches but man this was sweet. They went all out with the M0V3Z~ and never slowed down. I'm trying to think what my favorite spot was but they did too much cool shit for me to choose just one. Total nonstop action (yeah I'm clever).
***1/4
