Bound For Glory IV

After another great opening video, we go live to the Sears Centre in Chicago, Illinois. The house is packed and the crowd is lively. It’s time for TNA’s biggest PPV of the year. Or better: the biggest PPV in the HISTORY of TNA Wrestling. Ladies and Gentleman, get ready for Bound for Glory IV.

Steel Asylum (X-Division #1 Contender)

Everyone knew this would be a spotfest and so it happened. The formerly known Terrordome was once again a fun match to watch with some crazy, insane spots. A triple suplex (yes that’s possible), a vicious Devine Intervention and the running Canadian Destroyer were the highlights of this match. A cool way to open the show, but nothing amazing. Not as great as the previous one, so this ratings is the highest I’m going. Still an enjoyable and fun match to watch.

Rating: ***

ODB, Rhaka Khan and Rhino vs The Beautiful People and Cute Kip

(6-man Mixed Tag)

Like you could expect, this one was rather an impact match instead of PPV material. Don’t know why they added this to the card, but at least they kept it short. The match never dragged on and it was entertaining to watch. Glad Rhino picked up the win.

Rating: *

Abdul Bashir(c) vs Creed

(X-Division Title)

I loved the pre-match promo from Creed and the soldier who stepped in the ring. The match had a quick start and the pace never really slowed down. Creed was great in the ring and I’m glad he was over with the crowd. That guys shows so much energy, I like it. Action inside the ring was fine and had some good back and forth . The match ended way too quick, just like at NS, but overall it was a damn fine match.

Rating: **1/2

Taylor Wilde(c) vs Awesome Kong vs Roxxi
(Knockouts Title)

Just like the X-division match, this one had great action inside the ring, but had the same problem. It didn’t reach the 10-minute mark, which sucked because I liked it. Kong looked amazing once again and Roxxi worked her ass off like always, but Taylor Wilde keeps impressing me. Her style is almost flawless, she works hard and she’s fucking hot. Now she needs a better finisher and she’ll be the new Gail Kim. Booking and action were great, but like I said it was too short.

Rating: **1/2

Monster’s Ball

(Tag Team Titles)

What a difference with last year’s Monster’s Ball. This one was crazy, exciting and brutal all in one. All the teams had some decent offense and everyone took at least one sick bump. Bravo for Abyss for taking such a vicious chokeslam (he landed really hard), but damn it took a while before the fire was out. Once again never a dull moment and enjoyable from beginning till end. Booking was perfect and the action was non-stop. Great, wild brawl.

Rating: ***3/4

Christian Cage vs Booker T vs AJ Styles

(Three way war)

Very good match here between these three big stars. Lots of back and forth action and a all three worked together pretty well. The moonsault from AJ when he was on the ropes was fucking awesome. This might be Booker’s best match in TNA so far and I like were TNA is going with him. It lacked the big match feeling, but overall this was some great wrestling. Hopefully the pin on Christian doesn’t mean he’s leaving.

Rating: ***1/2

Jeff Jarrett vs Kurt Angle
(Grudge Match)

A much anticipated match here, because of the personal and intense feud. Jarrett looked great in the ring after his 2-year absence. Great atmosphere and great psychology in this match. I loved every second of it. From the early sleeper hold, the brawling, the submissions moves, the finishers and the finish. Ending might be a bit predictable, but I still marked like crazy. Best MOTN so far. Great performance from both man.

Rating: ****

Samoa Joe(c) vs Sting
(TNA World Heavyweight Title)

Going into this match I was a little worried. Sting has a hard time memorize his matches, like with Angle last year where Kurt had to tell him what to do. This year he forgot his lines at NS. The solution was a brawl. I lliked the brawl, especially the EPIC dropkick from Joe. He looked fucking strong in this match, like a killer. His heel reactions were great and reminded me of Joe in 05. I was a little disappointed Sting looked really weak in this match, but I’m glad he won again. It was a great match, but not as good as last year’s match. The part were both man no-sold their finishers was awesome. Ending wasn’t really bad, it progressed the feud so I’m fine.

Rating: ***1/2

Great review Stinger, altho I'd go higher on Steel Asylum and Sting/Joe myself.

Yeah I said it earlier, I'm not that high on spotfest matches as I used to be so actually that's still a pretty good rating.
Sting vs Joe had a big time feeling along with a great athosphere. Brawl was great, but I wish they had some more back and forth in the ring. For instance I misseda figure four or a SDL from Sting. Still a damn good fight, but not even close to last years match with Angle.

Oh I forgot my overall thought. It gets 8,5 out of 10 for me. Probably the best TNA PPV of the year, but not close to BFG 07. I'd put it slightly below 06 which was an amazing PPV as well.

TNA SLAMMIVERSARY 2007

LAX vs. Rhyno & Senshi - **3/4 | Real hot tag match to get the PPV underway. Around 8 minutes of great action.

Chris Sabin vs. Black Machismo - **1/2 | Decent match and this was only the beginning for Black Machismo.

Jerry Lynn & Frank Wycheck vs. James Storm & R-Truth - *3/4 | Quite suprised that this wasen't bad at all, quite entertaining actually. Storm was awesome in this one.

Bob Backlund vs. Alex Shelley - * | Backlund was awesome for his age and Shelley's selling reminded me of HBK at Summerslam with his 'flopping around like a fish'.

Vodoo Kin Mafia vs. Basham & Damaja - 1/2* | Awful match that only get's the 1/2* due to Hemme ripping up the sign about Women shouldn't be allowed to wrestle.

Eric Young vs. Robert Roode - *3/4 | Some decent spots from Young but that was pretty much it. More of an Impact match than anything else.

Team 3D vs. Rick Steiner & Animal - *1/2 | It was ok while it lasted but didn't get enough time.

Sting vs. Christopher Daniels - **1/4 | Maybe a little generous with the rating but I did enjoy these two going at it for the 6 minutes that they got allocated. I was pretty disappointed with the time though for the second biggest match of the PPV.

Abyss vs. Tomko - *** | A match that isn't going to be to everyones taste but I loved it. Two big guys pretty much killing each other.

King of the Mountain 07 - ***3/4 | I'll be honest that I'm not that big of a fan of this type of match but this is by far the best I've seen of them. Harris was a real suprise in this one and covered up his mis-placement in the match well. Not far of **** but still a great main event with an awesome moment to end the PPV.

Overall Rating - 6/10 | Not a must see show and 10 matches on the PPV denied some of the matches getting as much time as they deserved. Despite that it was still a half decent show . Good way to celebrate the 5th anniversary of TNA.

I thought that show was much better than your giving it credit for, way too low on KOTM, Tag opener, and Sabin/Lethal IMO.

Just got TNA lockdown 2008 on DVD real cheap off amazon, thought I would watch it now and OMG! what terrible video quality.

I saw the 2006 PPVs on the net with bad VQ and just thought it was due to it being downloaded but now i know TNA has bad VQ on their official DVDs too. Grainy out of focus and unclear presentation is soo 1990's tape trading.

They don't just need HD quality, they need to just improve their video cameras. Also DVD match listings in the wrong order on the box is just weak too.
