Re: Official TNA DVD Help/Discussion/Review Thread

Good ratings Styles, pretty much the same as mine for the most part. Dutt/Lethal had tons of spots never before seen a ladder match, which is kinda hard to pull off considering how many there have been and what's already been done in the past.

Re: Official TNA DVD Help/Discussion/Review Thread

I saw parts of NS on a streaming, but it was really late here and shortly fell asleep during some parts so I don't have full ratings up yet. Will review that probably next week. ME was around ***1/2, ladder match had some cool spots.

Knockouts Title: Awesome Kong (c) vs. Gail Kim vs. ODB (Destination X 3/9/08)

Excellent match. Gail and ODB worked together against Kong and against each other when Kong was down and out. The spot where ODB was holding Kong up at the ropes followed by Gail's top rope legdrop was pretty awesome. Also loved Gail getting revenge for the fallaway slam by spearing ODB into the next dimension much to the delight of the crowd. Kong was great as well as she totally destroyed Gail by countering a wheelbarrow with an Implant Buster and a diving splash off the second rope. The finish with Saeed tripping up ODB causing her to be distracted before Kong destroyed her with an Implant Buster and Awesome Bomb was nice as well as it continued to build up to Saeed's in-ring debut a month later at Lockdown. This match is right up there with Gail vs. Kong at Final Resolution as the best Knockouts matches of the year so far. They have certainly set the bar high.

Re: Official TNA DVD Help/Discussion/Review Thread

Normally I do a Top Five for the PPVs, but for Bound for Glory, there are so many great matches, that I made it a Top Ten.

Top Ten Favorite Bound for Glory Matches: (the first four are almost interchangable. I love them all about the same)

1) Sting vs. Kurt Angle (2007) - Well its certainly the biggest match in Bound for Glory history. Two great legends who had never had a real match with each other (that BS Double DQ match on Impact doesn't count in my eyes) and with a World title on the line, it just spelled EPIC. These two had an amazing match, and Sting took some serious shots in there. For a near 50 year old man, he sure can go. I loved this match.

2) Samoa Joe vs. Christian Cage (2007) - Phenomenal match. I loved the matches these two had together. Their DX07 match is probably my all time favorite TNA World Title match, and this one damn near matched it. The big seller here was Joe finally getting the clean win over Christian. That was awesome.

3) AJ Styles & Christopher Daniels vs. LAX: Six Sides of Steel (2006) - A perfect way to cap off one of the best tag team feuds in TNA history. It was a great & violent cage match.

4) Chris Sabin vs. Senshi (2006): This match totally blew me away when I first saw it. And to think that was going to be my piss break match? (poor build up can do that) These two tore the house down and managed to take the least important match on the card and damn near steal the show.

5) AJ Styles vs. Christopher Daniels: 30 Minute Iron Man (2005) - Often forgotten, probably because it isn't as classical as the first Ironman these two had, but its still an amazing wrestling match between two of the best in TNA.

6) LAX vs. XXX: Ultimate X (2007) - One of the best Ultimate X matches and one of TNA's best PPV openers ever, arguably the best.

7) Jay Lethal vs. Christopher Daniels (2007) - Another underrated one. Not much of a build up, but a great dsiplay of X Division wrestling. Lots of cool counters and spots in what was probably the sleeper hit of the show.

8) Steiner Brothers vs. Team 3D: Tables Match (2007) - Underrated match. I'm a big mark for the Steiner Brothers, and I just loved every minute of this. The table spots were really cool, and seeing the Steiners get the win just made my night.

9) Abyss vs. Jeff Hardy vs. Sabu vs. Rhino: Monster's Ball II (2005) - I didn't love this as much as everybody else did, but if you love hardcore spotfests, then this is the ticket. This match was just friggin nuts.

10) Sting vs. Jeff Jarrett (2006) - Really good Old school match with an ending that sent everyone home happy. I felt like I was watching an old Wrestlemania or Starrcade while watching this match, and to get that feeling back was pretty cool.

Can anything from 2008 make it onto the list. Well Joe/Sting certainly can. Jarrett/Angle maybe. AJ/Cage/Booker could damn near steal that show. A Tag Team Monster's Ball & Steel Asylum? Those could be really good. And of course I'd love to see one more LAX vs. Beer Money Inc. match, even though they've done it like 6 times already.

Re: Official TNA DVD Help/Discussion/Review Thread

Good list. The first four are all great and around the **** mark. I don't think Sting vs Angle was their biggest match ever, Jarrett vs Sting had a much bigger feeling. The feud was going on for months and Sting took three months off. Everyone was looking forward to Sting's return and his new title reign.

Re: Official TNA DVD Help/Discussion/Review Thread

Random Match Rating

Lethal Lockdown 07-****-****1/4

Great match, but a few things hold it back. One is that horrible cage they used, this might seem like nitpicking but the regular black cage is much more visually appealing. Second, they had a tough job of winning the crowd back after not just one but 2 wrestlecrap type matches. Things really pick up once Joe gets in the match and they start to win the crowd back, but the first few minutes are fairly dead.

Still think I like this year's LL the best, need to see it again tho.

Re: Official TNA DVD Help/Discussion/Review Thread

***1/2 for 2007's Lethal Lockdown match.

I haven't seen the match in a good while and I own the event on video. All I remember being impressed by was AJ Styles way of doing a few of the big bumps in there. It's a good match but action kind of gets hard to watch at times for me to like it any better. Sometimes I can take action being all over the place, there are other times I simply can't though.

Re: Official TNA DVD Help/Discussion/Review Thread

I thought last night's Impact had a few solid matches

LAX/Beer Money-***
Joe/Bashir-**1/4-**1/2
AJ/Booker-**1/2 (Ref bump was horribly done tho)

Quote:
8/21/08 Gail Kim vs. Awesome Kong ***
8/21/08 AJ Styles vs. Kurt Angle (Ladder) ***
9/14/08 Jay Lethal vs. Sonjay Dutt (Ladder) ***1/2
9/14/08 Samoa Joe vs. Kurt Angle vs. Christian Cage ***1/4
Meltzer's latest TNA ratings, I agree with the Impact matches but I would go atleast 1/4* higher on the 2 matches from No Surrender.

Re: Official TNA DVD Help/Discussion/Review Thread

Some Underrated/Under-appreciated TNA matches:

D-Lo Brown vs. AJ Styles Ladder Match ***3/4
Elix Skipper vs. Sonjay Dutt- Final Resolution 2005 ***1/4
Team 3D vs. LAX- Slammy 2008 ***1/4-***1/2
Team Canada vs. AMW- Lockdown 2005 ***1/2-***3/4
8-Man Tag- 2 Hour Impact Premier ****
D-Lo Brown and AJ Styles vs. XXX ***3/4
Chris Sabin vs. Kaz- May Impact 2007 ***1/2

Seems like alot of people, myself including, sometimes forget just how much D-Lo did for TNA in its early days. He had a great tag team and feud with AJ in 2003
