Re: Official TNA DVD Help/Discussion/Review Thread
It's really about the storyline as a whole. Styles and Joe are on the same side. Them facing each other for the World Title accomplishes squat, except for seeing a really good match. Cage and Joe on the other hand have a story that fits the storyline perfectly.
As long as Christian stays neutral, both sides could be whispering in his ear for this match. Sting, Angle, and Booker could be trying to trigger Christian's ego. "Remember you never lost that title." "Its guys like Joe and Styles for why you've been pushed out of the main event." "Don't you want to be on top again, Champ?"
Then Styles, Jarrett, etc. could be whispering on the other side trying to convince him that he doesn't have to be like them. His career will go further if he sticks by the young talent. Him trying to end the career of a Joe or Styles will do nothing for him, and Angle/Booker are just using it to advance themselves, and not the company etc.
Regardless Christian is going to want to win the title, so he's not going to lay down to side for the young talent. But the question would be how does he want to win the title. Does he want to trample the career of a young talent for veteran retribution, or does he want to prove he's the better man face to face in the ring?
