^^I agree with those rankings, but I haven't seen any match since they first happened so I don't have that good of a memory of any of them.

So, you just started watching TNA? You got A LOT of catching up to do, lol.

I'm about to go to bed. It's like 4:30 in the morning over here. My sleeping habits are beyond terrible, lol. Anyways, I'm out.

Turning Point (2006)

1.) PCS Elimination: Shelly/Star/Lethal/Dutt/Senshi - ***1/4
Really good opener that got the crowd going. Exactly what you would expect for your typical X-division match. Nash on commentary once again was gold.

2.) X - Title - Daniels vs Sabin - ***1/4
Another really good match, on par or slightly a bit less equal to their Genesis encounter. But once again it felt like that something extra was missing. I can't really put my finger on it, but it was a solid well wrestled match.

3.) Aj Styles vs Rhino - **3/4
This match starts with Aj attacking Rhino during his interview and they continue brawling in the stands for a while. As they get back into the ring finally, Aj is thrown outside and appears to be seriously hurt. While people are checking on him, he runs back into the ring and gets a very sneaky roll up win. Didn't like that ending very much (even though it was pretty damn funny including Aj doing the running man lol) but the match itself was entertaining, just a little too short.

4.) Flag match - LaX vs AMW - ***1/2
This started out incredible with both teams just forgetting the rules and going all out. Great crakajack by Hernandez on Harris onto a ladder and Gail busted out a beautiful looking top rope moonsault to the outside. As the match crept towards the end, the action stalled and the unnecessarily complicated rules came into play hurting the flow but a very good contest.

5.) NWA title - Sting vs Abyss vs Cage - **1/4
Very disappointed in this one. With those wrestlers involved I expected a much better showing but this match just didn't seem to work. Nothing really memorable happened and there was too much interference from Tomko. It's crawled to an uninspiring finish and that was that.

6.) Kurt Angle vs Samoa Joe - ****1/2
The rematch from their great match from Genesis. This was starts off with some great technical wrestling as you would expect. I was actually preferring the Genesis match UNTIL the last 5-10 minutes where something special happened. It's hard to explain but as they were jocking for position with reversals and counters, in a hybrid MMA style very much like their Lockdown match this year, the action seemed so real and it felt like a legit fight. The intensity was off the charts. The crowd was INSANE during this time, equally split 50/50 as each section would Chant at the top of their lungs "TAP TAP TAP" during each man's move. Amazing amazing atmosphere and these two warriors battled for everything they had. I thought the ending with the ref bump was unnecessary but it didn't devalue this great match too much. Wow is all I have to say after Angle/Joe I,II.

Overall:

Wrestling wise this is an great ppv with probably the best match of 06 happening in Angle/Joe but it falls big time because of other factors I'll get into in the "Other stuff" portion of my review.

Other Stuff:

Time wasting segment #1:
First we have aa intergender Bikini contest featuring Eric Young and Traci Brooks. I got a chuckle from EY's spongebob underpants but get the fuck out of here with this on a ppv seriously...

Time wasting segment #2
We then have AJ Pierzynski and Dale Torborg out in the ring with Cornette. He introduces David Eckstein and his brother. Eks comes out with the WS trophy and starts plugging his book.. The crowd rightly chants "WE WANT WRESTLING!" It ends in a brawl of course, as Lance Hoyt comes out and helps the Ecksteins. Why should I care about any of these guys? really...

Time wasting segment(s) #....
We got more Vince, DX parodies throughout the show. Dumb to the Extreme as they were called. So out comes VKM referred to as Michael Hickenbottom and Paul Levesque, in full makeup and wigs, with Kip even wearing a huge crucifix around his neck. They challenge Vince to some stupid 1 million dollar challenge to have HHH and HBK fight them for real or some shit. God how I hate VKM... The crowd was actually very behind them even chanting their names sadly. Stuff like this just shouldn't be on a ppv.

Nice review, Styles. Match-for-match, TP '06 was one of TNA's best PPVs ever. I choose to ignore the three overly long in-ring segments in this PPV, lol.

PCS Elimination: ***1/4 - ***1/2
Daniels/Sabin: *** - ***1/4
AJ/Rhino: **1/2 - **3/4
LAX/AMW: ***1/4 - ***1/2
Abyss/Sting/Cage: ** - **1/4
Joe/Angle: ****1/4 - ****1/2

^ Thx Chilller.

The problem with the segments is they really killed the momentum of the show. You'd have a good match with the crowd into it and one of the segments came on and bam killed it. But wrestling wise the show was great.

Top 10 ppvs of 2006

1. Lockdown

8. Senshi vs Sabin - BFG - ****1/4
9. SSOS - Aj/Daniels vs LaX - BFG - ****1/4

I still do remember ordering this show two years ago and being happy with what I saw for the most part. Angle vs. Joe II would of been my match of the year for 2006, that is if I probably haven't already watched Undertaker vs. Angle at No Way Out. I'd say that I just liked that match a little more.

Good review Styles

From what I remember

PCS Elim-***1/4-***1/2
Daniels/Sabin-***1/4
AJ/Rhino-**3/4-***
LAX/AMW-***1/2
Abyss/Cage/Sting-**1/2 or so (The FR match the next month was better, around ***1/4)
Joe/Angle-****1/2

I thought it was a great show, but some of the things u mentioned did damper it slightly.

Change of plans. Aj/Angle will be reviewd later because the download ain't working atm. Time for ULTIMATE X!! MY first one watched.

Chris Sabin vs Aj Styles vs Petey Williams - Ultimate X, X division title.

First UX match watched, should be good. Lovely start to the match and not long for a TNA chant to break out after Petey and AJ double team Sabin i believe. Crap, I'm wrong, Sabin has long hair here :s. Aj and Sabin were building up to a good move but Petey drags Aj out, Bastard, But AJ flys over the top rope! Thats more like it :P. Who is the guy in the red shirt yelling at Sabin, He isn't in the crowd either. Oh well. WOW! Top rope Dropkick by sabin who was perched against the big pole. Nice stuff. Again i'm wrong because the red shirt dude stopped sabin. He is gone now but ! TNA FANS CHANTING NA NA NA NA, HEY HEY HEY, GOODBYE! Awesome stuff. Petey dominates Sabin a bit before locking a sharpshooter. Lol at Aj trying to climb but petey stopping him. ROFL! PETEY GOES FOR A PIN!! I love AJ's kicks, He does them so well. GOD ALMIGHTY! Awesome 3 man spot with an electric chair hurricarana type move.

More awesome dives follow, this is getting good. Super hurricarana!!!!! Double Inverted DDT, This is Freaking awesome! I agree with the crowd, Holy shit. Shit! Dropkick on Aj who flips him over, this is amazing. Finishers galore follows and an awesome finish! Smart booking from TNA their.

Final rating: ****3/4. I don't know the general rating for this match but it was awesome, not knowing what happens at all is good to

I loved how AJ falls after being so close to get the belt and then Petey applies the CD.... the look on AJ's face after that was pure greatness, one of my favorite matches for sure
