Easily ****1/4 for me. TNA's second best MOTY for me after Joe/Angle from LD. It wasn't for a title, but the match itself was really awesome.

^I'd add Lethal Lockdown and probably subtract the Cage/Angle Impact match, I thought it was ***3/4.

But other than that yeah that's pretty much the list, Angle/Nagata was **** as well to me but that wasn't really a TNA match per se.

No Surrender (2006)



1.) Eric Young vs. A1 - *
Pretty short boring match. The crowd was way into EY though and some very much warranted "FIRE A1!" chants.

2.) Petey Williams vs. Jay Lethal - 1/2*
You're thinking Wtf?! How could a match featuring these 2 great athletes be rated so low... Well they were having this retarded Jackass copycat gimmick with some of the X guys at the time. And Dutt slipped some laxatives into Petey's water before the match... So during it, he starts holding his stomach and ass and looks likes he's about to shit himself. The announcers play it up like he has and the stench is everywhere.. FFS This was beyond stupid and stuff like this makes me embarrassed to call myself a wrestling fan. Nice "Hold it in!" chant though lmao.

3.) Abyss vs. Raven vs. Brother Runt - **1/2
Not the greatest hardcore match ever but not terrible. A semi blown spot by Runt as he leaped off the top of the entrance ramp onto Abyss with a double stomp and failed to break the table lol. Expected more really.

4.) Triple Chance Tag-Team Battle Royal - **3/4
Some decent action, a bit too crowded in the beginning and the rules were over complicated (as usual) but there were some pretty cool eliminations and some nice action.

5.) X - Title – Senshi vs. Chris Sabin - **3/4
I was loving this match at first. Really hard hitting ground based type of stuff but the ending completely ruined what could've been a ***1/2 match or so. Remember that Jackass shit, well it makes a return in this one with one of the most asinine stunts I've ever seen. It involves a blow up doll...Need I say more. Props to the crowd for chanting "This is Stupid!' I could think of other words.. But moving on.

6.) Christian Cage vs. Rhino - ***
Really good emotional brawl type of match. A little on the basic side and the crowd were kind of dead during but I enjoyed it.

7.) NWA Tag Titles - UX - LaX vs Styles/Daniels - ****1/2
Would you expect any less when these 4 great wrestlers are involved. The action is fast, furious, and really non stop. My kind of match! So many great moments but the best for me were, Styles hitting the Clash on Homicide while standing on the apron onto a table and hitting the spiral tap on Hernandez. The ending is about the greatest ending to an UX that you could imagine. Konnan is in the ring trying to wreak havok, so Daniels decides to climb to the very top of the UX structure and leaps all the way to the center recapturing the belt for him and AJ. Amazing match.

8.) Fan's Revenge - Samoa Joe vs Jeff Jarratt - **3/4
Pretty fun entertaining match here. Joe just dominates almost the entire time and it's hilarious how the fans are chomping at the bit to try and whip JJ at every turn.


Overall: Terrible show really, One of the worst TNA ppvs so far. I rank these on an overall scale so besides the UX and a few other average/good matches there were lots of outright stinkers in this that brought the show way down. The jackass nonsense ruined what could've been 2 great X-division matches...

Other Stuff: Cornette keeps talking about the huge announcement during the show and after the Joe/JJ match he comes out and proclaims TNA are moving to primetime! The fans go nuts and start chanting TNA TNA TNA! but that's not all. The REAL announcement is that non other than Kurt freakin Angle is coming to TNA! They show a video clip and he ends the show with his trademark "Oh It's Real, It's Damn real."

They didn't show any reaction after this and I would've liked Angel to come out instead of just being on a video but it was still a great moment and a nice way to end and otherwise forgettable ppv.

Nice review of NS06.

I wouldn't say it was a terrible show. The only real downfall, believe it or not, was the X Division for the reasons that you stated. They made up for it at Bound for Glory though with an entertaining X Gauntlet, and an awesome rematch between Sabin & Senshi.

Yeah nice review, doesn't look that great other than the obvious great match.

I always go back and forth on ****1/4 and ****1/2 for that match, I'd say it's 2nd for 06 as far as TNA MOTY. (Behind Joe/Angle II)

I wouldnt go that high with LAX/Daniels & AJ(***3/4-****).

Some great spots with an awesome ending, but also It pretty much kills the way a UX should be won tbh
