Yeah I know its a little late
Here's my final ratings for Slammiversary 2006 after watching it again
The James Gang vs. Team 3D **3/4
This match was lots of fun and was a great way to open the show! While not anything really special it was an above average brawl that the crowd was really into
Rhino vs. Bobby Roode and Scott D'Amore **1/4
Again this match was alot of fun! It seemed like a good mix of a comedy match and a normal match, as much sense as that makes. Who knew Scotty could wrestle he looked very solid out there and I wish we could have seen more from him
Senshi vs. Petey Williams vs. Shark Boy vs. Jay Lethal vs. Sonjay Dutt vs. Alex Shelley ***3/4
I know in my rating earlier I gave it ***1/2 but after watching it again I felt like I underrated it, this match was just awesome! Great action some great mat wrestling and nice spots made this match a winner. I agree with what others have said and that is Shelley was brilliant in this one!
Kevin Nash vs. Chris Sabin
This was a good underdog style match with Sabin trying to prove the X guys can hang with guys like Nash. Nots of involvment from Shelley didn't hurt this match and it ended up being solid all the way through. Still doesn't change the fact that Nash needed to be carried but I think Sabin did a good job.
America's Most Wanted vs. AJ Styles and Christopher Daniels for the NWA World Tag Team Championship ****1/4
WOW!! What a tag team match this was! Companies today need to take notes from matches like this, tag team excellence was what this match was. So much non-stop action and lots of momentum changes, I was kept on the edge of my seat. Great match with a great ending where AJ hit a wicked frog splash followed by a BME from Daniels. MOTYC
Scott Steiner vs. Samoa Joe ***1/2
Very good is about all that needs to be said for this match. It wasn't anything truely great but both men sure delivered a fine performance that lived up to the great build-up. This match had a little of everything including mat/technical wrestling, brawling and some good storytelling. Scott Steiner's best singles match in years.
Christian Cage vs. Sting vs. Ron Killings vs. Abyss vs. Jeff Jarrett for the NWA World Heavyweight Championship in a King of the Mountain match ***1/2
Definately a good match and main event where everybody got a chance to shine and hurt a spot or two. Many people say the 2005 KOTM was the worst but I'd give that title to this one, in fact out of the KOTM matches I've seen I'd say 2007>2008>2005>2006. But still a very good match kind of hurt by the dirty finish and the start of another Jarrett reign.
What a PPV this goes to shw ya how underrated TNA's 2006 was. Most people would say 2005 was the best year, and match-wise it was, but this 2006 had an all around better product IMO and that's reflected very well on this show featuring great wrestling and entertainment.
Overall:
8.5/10
Truely a show to watch out for
