I definitely like the Slammi match more, the ending is way better and the crowd is so amped for the title change.

Slammiversary (2006)

1.) Bingo Hall Brawl – Team 3D vs. The James Gang - ***1/4
This was a huge surprise to me and it might be the highest I've ever rated a match involving JamesGang/VKM. The crowd was WAY into this one, lots of chants throughout. Very satisfying and entertaining brawl.

2.) Handicap match - Rhino vs. Roode/D’Amore - **
Fairly entertaining comedy style of match. Nothing great until the end when Rhino Gores the holy hell out of D'amore lol.

3.) #1 contenders match - Petey vs Lethal vs Shelly vs Dutt vs Sharky vs Senshi - ***1/2
Elimination style X match. Very structured and less spotty than most of these types of contest. The crowd weren't loving the slower paced action that much, but I thought it was a very solid wrestling showcase. A nice change. Shelly and Senshi were the standouts in this one.

4.) Chris Sabin vs. Kevin Nash - **1/2
Very surprised by this one again. Nash is so slow and lumbering and this isn't by any means a classic match but they put on a very intelligent and entertaining bout. Shelly was a big part of the match, interfering or trying to at every turn and it actually helped build some drama.

5.) NWA tag titles - AMW vs Aj/Daniels - ****1/2
Great great match slightly better than the first but the real difference as I was hoping was the ending which was incredible. Aj/Daniels put on an absolute wrestling clinic in the beginning but after some interference from Gail, Amw takes control of the match and dominates for a while. A Mountain of a woman (maybe lol) then comes out, chokeslams Gail and carries her to the back. The finish comes when Styles hits the frog splash followed by a BME from Daniels. The Impact zone absolutely erupts with the 3 count! Great stuff and an unbelievable tag match.

6.) Samoa Joe vs. Scott Steiner - ***1/2 - ***3/4
Really loved this. It was the perfect power vs power matchup. Steiner brought out his repertoire of suplexes and Joe was ready with his submission and high impact moves. A great moment happened at the start. After Steiner smacks the back of Joe's head Hall style, Joe gets up, spits in his face and they go at it toe to toe! Really intense and good wrestling match. The ending is a little botched and underwhelming but it thats the only real downfall.

7. NWA title - KOTM - Abyss vs Cage vs Sting vs Jarrett vs Killings - ***

There was some good action in this, and an awesome spot featuring Abyss falling from the ladder onto 4 tables but there were just too many moments of minimal action where the crowd seemed bored. The worst for me was the ending which I thought was just unbelievably bad. Very much like what happened at Victory Road, the show ended in controversy. Hebner, Zybysko interfere leading to Jarrett doing the unthinkable and winning the title yet again. This almost causes a riot in the impact zone as the ring is littered with barrage after barrage of trash. Cornette comes out and grabs the title from Jarrett leaving the show on the very popular cliffhanger angel....

Overall: Another Great ppv but not a fan of the end of the show. Up and down the card though there were matches that definitely exceeded my expectations and an overall Solid wrestling show. Could've done with 1 or 2 matches but great stuff yet again.

Also there is a fantastic promo from "The New Face Of Tna Management" Jim Cornette.

Victory Road - Ultimate X - ***1/4 - ***1/2

Kaz made the match up. That leg drop from the top would be one of the spots of the year.

Great Slammi review AJ, I think you left someone out of the X match tho cause wasn't it a 6 way and not a 5 way? (I think maybe Skipper or someone was in that match too)

I love the back and forth suplex spot in that match tho. The ending to KOTM was kinda gay but it was still a good match, I'd probably say ***1/4 or so.

3D/VKM to me was the most shocking thing on the card, they had a really good match I thought. The tag title match shole the show tho, best moment by far of that Slammi and maybe out of all the Slammi shows so far.

I've got it a little lower at ****, but it's been awhile since I seen it.

Great review as always AJ. Slammiversary 2006 is a definate must have for anybody looking for great TNA PPVs.

I still say this. Lockdown, Sacrifice, & Slammy 06 is my favorite string of TNA PPVs. All three of them were fabulous shows.

^It's true that these last 3 ppvs I've seen have been really great but I can't say I'd prefer them over the 3 of 2005 of Sacrifice,No Surrender, and Unbreakable. All in my top 5 of that year.

So far though 2006 is proving to be as good as 2005.

Final Resolution - 05>06
Against all odds - 05<06
Destination X - 05<06
Lockdowns tough call maybe slightly favored 06
Slammiversary - 05<06
Sacrifice - 05>06

Interesting to see if the last 6 can even come close to matching the quality of the amazing run at the end of 05.

Ya know now that ya mention it, 06 PPV wise was almost just as strong as 05. 05 is still a little better and it had more really great matches, but the overall shows were pretty close in comparison.

I thought Destination X, Lockdown, Slammi, and BFG were all better than their 05 counterparts. 05's Final Resolution, Sacrifice, No Surrender, Genesis, and Turning Point were better tho. (Altho Genesis is really close)

Both Hard Justice's kinda stunk for both years, I've never seen all of AAO 06 but it looks like on paper to be a better overall show than 05's version. Then with the name changes your left with Unbreakable vs Victory Road, and that's a landslide victory for Unbreakable. (VR 06 is one of the most forgotten and not very good TNA PPV's yet)

So yeah it's actually pretty close, but 05 still has the slight advantage. You know, 07 does get crapped on by alot of people but I think Sacrifice, BFG, and No Surrender from 07 are 3 of my favorite TNA shows of all time.

Well when comparing 05 & 06 I would say:

FR - 05 was better, mainly because of the title matches, but 06 had Sting's return.

AGA - 06 was better. Outside of Nash/Jarrett & AJ/Daniels, 05 didn't have much while AGA had really good tag matches, AJ/Daniels/Joe II, Rhino/Abyss, and a very strong main event in Christian/Jarrett

DZ - DX05 is my pick for worst TNA PPV of all time. So yeah, 06 was better.

LD - 06 was better IMO. The double main event just made that show for me, but you can aruge either way.

May PPV HJ05 & Sacrifice 06 - Sac06 gets my pick. HJ was pretty good though.

Slammy - 06 was WAY better.

July PPV No Surrender 05 and Victory Road 06 - No Surrender 05 was 10 times better.

Auguest PPV Sacrifice 05 & HJ 06 - Whoa I didn't realize they switched both shows exactly. Oh well, HJ had some of the life sucked out of it because of the fire, and Sacrifice had that awesome Lynn/Waltman match I love so much, so Sacrifice gets the nod here.

September PPV Unbreakable & No Surrender 06 - Unbreakalbke just because of that awesome main event.

BFG - 2006 by far. That show was great.

Genesis - 2006 without a doubt for me. That card was loaded with TNA dream matches.

TP - 2005 gets my pick here. That card was stacked.

So out of 12 ppvs comparrisons, I have 2006 winning out 7 to 5, but alot of them were close.

2006 was my favorite year overall though, especially the first half because that was when everything just clicked.
