I think it would be a good idea if TNA started running some joint-shows with some smaller independent promotions. At the moment TNA only run TV, doing joint-shows would split the cost. It would allow TNA talents to get some extra pay days and also be good for the indie promotion.
Run shows in areas like New York, Philadelphia, Chicago, Houston, Dallas, Vegas, San Fran etc.
They could do 2/3 day loops in different areas with each show being a joint show with different indie promotions.
TNA has ones like Rosemary, Spud, Trevor Lee, Mandrews, Everett, Steve, Abyss, Grado, Shera, Drake as more unique characters that Chikara is know for and Chikara has Dev Dorp, Princess Kim, Eddie Kingston and original Ant Colony to kill it in the ring with talanted opponents.
It would give the guys some work and they would get the benefit of working with an established group in the area. GFW is already doing a series of these indy cooperative shows.
What would be a concern is how much TNA would want for themselves rather than getting the workers bookings and exposure. The TNA name would not command a big payout for an indy that can just hire some of their talent any way.
Yeah, this is where TNA signing more guys down to exclusive contracts would help. Give the indie more reason to want to do joint-shows with TNA.
Maybe they could work a deal where TNA would get X amount if TNA promote the indie promotion on TV(Promote some of the indies other events(non joint-shows)). Which they would do by simply mentioning upcoming events on TV like they use to do when they ran shows.
That would actually be a good idea. Currently TNA is in transition mode and are basically starting all over again from scratch so try to rebuild profile by touring through local independent shows and create a partnership with them to do joint shows (hell, even two at the same time to where you send one roster headlined by Drew Galloway to a city like Philly while another roster headlined by EC3 goes to a city like Chicago).
You give talent more dates to work and therefore more money while also establishing TNA's profile with those companies to where if TNA wants to do house shows again, it would be easy to transfer onto those cities. Makes sense.
I said something like that awhile back. Like you said they can save costs by using the local promotion's equipment instead of taking theirs on the road. Plus the local promotion will have good deals with a place to hold the show, be able to market to the local fans and have a built in fan base to come out. It would give TNA some guys to job to the stars with an occasional local guy pulling an upset over a TNA guy.
I've said for ages, TNA should just license there house shows like they did originally with the hebners. They were doing pretty well as well building up the houses in a lot of places and making money, don west was shift merchandise like no ones business. TNA then decided to go it alone and it fell to pieces. It's funny the times they have actually made an effort with publicity and promotions they've done extremely well on the gate. Selling out the compuware arena twice in a relatively short space of time, selling out the ecw arena, with the james gang vs team 3d feud which got TV air time in the build up, Chicago for there first TV on the road, the first set of New York TV tapings, skammiversary with Christian cage one night return, the victory road show in houston.
They caN draw when they promote, they just choose not to.
