Why shouldn't he, & why is it nothing to be proud of? Roode simply gave back to the company & fans that got him where he is today. He didn't need to do it, but I respect Roode for doing so, and he has nothing to be ashamed of.
Roode is an old school professional. He probably knows that TNA gave him the opportunity to make his name and on his next phase going to WWE/NXT, he wanted to give back one more time to TNA (even if he didn't really need to).
Love him or hate him one thing can be said, Roode does work. He was just putting on one final show for the fans that made him. Some people actually respect where they came from and who gave them opportunities. The thumbtack spot isn't dangerous and only hurts for a minute. I accidentally years ago spilled a pack of 500 on the ground and trying to avoid stepping on them I tripped and my right arm and right side was covered in them. Took 10 minutes to pull em all out. The falling on the concrete part was actually the most painful part. Bled like a stuck pig lol. I laughed about it after the initial "oh crap feeling". Oh yeah, the ones in my knees when I went to stand up actually did hurt pretty bad though.
I do not see much difference between this and what other wrestlers in all companies do. Other than this is probably less painful and has little long term effect on his health. I mean compared to torn ligaments and broken bones not to mention concussions this seems like a walk in the park.
Fact is Roode is a man who loves what he does and probably wanted to go big BEFORE going home to twist the common phrase.
I respect Bobby Roode for honoring the time honor tradition into the wresting company on his way out. Especially going through that with his body filled with thumbtacks.
Classy from Bobby. His heel run was still one of the better title runs in TNA history. He's past his prime, but he's a guy you can't help but wish success in all his future endeavors.
He's not passed his prime at all, people forget that having worked TNA for so long he's saved a lot of ring miles and can probably go another ten years. This spot was stupid to take on the way out and it does nothing for no one. The only small mercy in this is they didn't use it as a transitional spot which they've done a million times before. The fact they use the thumbtacks every few weeks really weakens the gimmick and it's over exposed it really lacks impact severely.
He's signed a letter of intent so it's unlikely he will back out especially when TNA can't pay him on time
