I want Ziggler in the hunt for EC3's title but as a serious competitor, not the guy that takes the title before the end of year. A back and forth rivalry between the two would be awesome!!!
Don't worry. I'm sure they're already grooming Rockstar Spud for a three-month program that will lead to him beating EC3 at whatever TV taping they do instead of Bound For Glory.
Angle's future is questionable. Right now, he is taking care of health issues with the possibility that his in-ring days may be done with. The problem with TNA is there is not much left to pick from. They lost three former world champs after Slammiversary. Angle is spent. EC3 already beat Lashley the week before he worked with Angle. You got Rockstar Spud (who, in my opinion, will do dick for them as a main eventer) and possibly Jeff Hardy, whenever he comes back.
I heard mention of Ziggler derailing EC3's momentum and maybe I'm being the pessimist here but what momentum? They had a cocky undefeated heel who was working at being a cocky undefeated heel. That could have been the attraction for another year before you even had to worry about any title matches. There was this imaginary pressure to hurry up and hand him something that really doesn't establish him any further. They have a fucking show in an amusement park that fills up every night whether they have a World title match or two midgets fighting over who gets to fuck a pie. The people who are so convinced that EC3 is "the next Rock" or that him winning the belt is going to be some "Mick Foley moment" are the same people who watch the show week in and week out. He just won the title and it generated the least amount of viewer interest in like ten years. What momentum is going to be derailed? The only people paying to watch TNA every week are Panda Energy and whoever is paying to run ads on Destination America from 9 to 11 on Wednesday nights and I bet they all have some serious buyer's remorse right about now.
You make some good points about the current situation and EC3 with the belt. However it is about down the road that they did this. If they really want to rebuild their company it needs to be with young talent that are more TNA guys than ex-WWE ones. Even though Angle has been in TNA as long or longer than WWE he is still seen as a WWE guy. EC3 had a cup of coffee there but does not have that strong connection. Along with a young champion they need someone that can bring people in. Angle can do that with or without the title. The title adds to EC3. Especially being a heel champion where fans want to see him get his comeuppance. And TNA is planning on starting to tour again this fall.
The key now is to slowly build up one or two serious contenders to challenge EC3 and not just rush them into title matches. I do not have a lot of faith in TNA doing that but one can hope.
TNA's priority needs to be remaining on a TV network at the moment and then getting organised again by running live events and finding some sort of replacement for PPV's, but if they can do that then they should make a big play for Ziggler as he would be a great catch for them, he's always been held back in WWE due to injury issues and politics but in TNA he would be pushed as a headlining act from the start I'm sure.
If TNA can sort their shit out they should try and land a few big names like Ziggler, Del Rio, Mysterio and Morrison.
WWE actually offered Dolph Ziggler a new contract a few weeks ago, and as of now it remains unclear as to whether or not Ziggler has actually signed it. In an interview he did earlier this week on the Chad Dukes Wrestling Show, Ziggler said he had yet to sign the new deal.
Ziggler was reportedly given an offer a few weeks back and when he didn’t sign it, it prompted a lot of speculation regarding his future, but the belief is that he will re-sign and remain with WWE.
Dolph was probably mulling over the contract because it had a pay cut. I think he has peaked in the WWE, and while I enjoy him in the ring, I know he's pretty much reached his career pinnacles.
He will still be a good hand, but his presence is no longer necessary so I think his deal has him making less money. But its still probably more than any of the competition would be willing to offer.
He has peaked in WWE that's the problem, he's a solid mid-card hand but I don't see him climbing any higher than that now, they may give him a token WWE title reign down the line out of loyalty but I would expect it to be a short transitional run before he's back to his mid-card spot.
In TNA he would likely be treated like a top star, he would still earn good money and would have the freedom to supplement that income by taking bookings elsewhere on the side and would have time to pursue non-wrestling interests which appears to be something he's keen to do.
Jack Swagger would be another good catch for TNA and he surely has to quit WWE before long, two failed big pushes he is a jobber for life there now, he will never gain acceptance as anything more in WWE.
My gut feeling is Ziggler will sign a new WWE deal but I hope he doesn't, he's not interesting to me there and his current angle with Lana is the worst thing in WWE.

^^Someone like Fandango breaking the fourth wall? Nah, no thanks.
I think Ziggler was pigeonholed the moment he was called "Ziggler." Don't care about seeing him in TNA (or about TNA generally) but I would be interesting to see him work beyond what he currently knows in a different format like LU. People get on Orton's case for being someone who gets unmotivated at times but I think Dolph is exactly that at the moment. A shift of climate for him might be intriguing to watch.
Never cared much for the guy, found him rather overrated. But if he leaves WWE then TNA should make a play for him.
