I've never really watched too much TNA, but I've always been curious about Sting's joker gimmick. Did he do well with it and did the fans like it or was it more of a corny failed experiment?
I remember the segment where he force fed hogan pulls in the ring.. thought that was pretty cool.. Also when he stole the title for RVD and wrote deception over the title.. I think it was better as a heel gimmick more then a face.
Slightly off-topic, but if The Joker (closer to the Ledger incarnation than any other, like Sting's) were a wrestling persona first instead of a comic book character, that would have been goddamn great.
Sting's Joker reminded me more of Cesar Romero's Joker than any other Joker, tbh. I like camp, but I don't think it was executed very well if he was going for another version of the Joker.
it was horrible. it was bad enough he was still being pushed to the moon in 2011 (and had almost 100% momentum when he became joker sting) but seeing him trying to be crazy was pathetic. i hate gimmicks where theyre basically just going about saying "ooooh im crazy!!!"
For me it was a bit of both. Like others said, some segments were awful and others were good. And as others said, it seems they could have done more. But for me that can be said about a lot of ideas in wrestling. It is like they have time to fill so they do the segments instead of nurturing the idea/character properly.
He did an alright job from a performance standpoint but there wasn't much of a story. I remember when they teased the heel turn around the time that Hogan/Bischoff came in with him shoving Dixie. Instead of slowly set it up, Hogan called him out on the same show to wrestle. He lost to Van Dam, in like eight seconds, and then gave RVD a beatdown with a bat, killing any momentum either one of them could possibly have.
I actually quite liked it, it was corny but was completely different to anything else out there and Sting played it beautifully, it created a fair few great moments as well
He did well with it..But it was a Russo gimmick.. Lose 10 matches with it in 30 seconds, then were going to put you in the world title match on PPV with no build up at all. Sting could have rocked that shit if he was allowed to.
You need to do it for a year or whats the point? Terrible booking, somebody that should not have a job in wrestling. Go get a job writing a sitcom. Moron.
Joker Sting was entertaining to watch during the time he annoyed Hogan. Never have I laughed that much when it comes to Sting.
