------------

I like these Impact preview videos. Nice touch.

Who is willing to bet Hardy vs Abyss will be exactly like the last Monster's Ball match between em? :CENA

No spoilers.

He did a pretty good job putting over Bram last year IMO before he got thrusted into the tag team with Storm. I'm actually surprised they still have the titles. I was expecting them to be transition champions since they only took the belts off the Wolves because their contracts were expiring.

This is the 1st show from the last NYC taping, which I attended. We'll see how they edit it, but I remember everything that was shot for this episode being really good (it was easily to tell them apparent since next week's show is all-cage matches for Lockdown). The KO's three-way was pretty good live, and the main event (which I won't spoil) was excellent. Hardy-Abyss was Hardy-Abyss. I don't mean that as necessarily a bad thing. It's just the same match those two have been having for years it seems.

I hope the other matches I mentioned both come across well on TV. For the 3rd Friday in a row, I won't be home for the live airing, though I might be home in time to catch the 11 o'clock replay. Worst case scenario, I'll catch up on Unlocked (which I think is the real reason TNA put that show at 10 am on Saturdays). It doesn't help them in the ratings much, but I for one have been enjoying have multiple opportunities to watch the show (I'm probably going to miss most of the original airings because I'm usually out with friends on Friday nights).

I'm interested to do see how the lightning comes across on TV for this show and next week's episodes. This was the only show of the NYC run that sold out and the building was legit full, so if it's still dark, they're not just covering for empty seats. I'm hoping there's at least a slight improvement in the look tonight.

Also, there are a lot of chants that will probably be edited out of course. There's a reason they've only gone live in New York one time in all this time they've been running the Manhattan Center lol.

As I stated in another thread I wonder if they are trying for a look similar to UFC. Granted Impact has been darker but that might be due to the lightling options in the Manhattan Center. I think along with tonight, the tapings in the UK might give us a better idea of what they are trying to do.

I agree. I think so far it's been a mixture of both the intent and the reduced budget. We'll see what they do with a full house tonight. If you notice though, even the second set of New York tapings last year were darker than the first ones when Dixie went through the table. Definitely not as dark as the first few DA episodes, but I did notice that.

The problem with Monster's Ball matches at this point is that there's nothing new done in them any more.

They're still good matches, as shown by Abyss and Bram, but they are all the same and when they do a series like they did between the two where they were having hardcore matches so soon between each other they lost all impact---no pun meant.

I don't expect Jeff and Abyss to do anything new, but I expect it to be decent.

That and the Monsters Ball has been watered down from original form. I mean the wrestlers were not really held in a dark room/box for 24 hrs or whatever it was but story wise it was a nice twist.

Overall TNA is trying to be more hardcore which I am ok with as long as it is just a match or two each week BUT they need to start making them stipulation matches. Just let the guys fight and have the refs be more hands off where they let more go without calling for a DQ.

I know many on here do not want a more hardcore/edgy product but a recent poll on WWE for which defunct belts the fans wanted to see come back the winner with over half of all votes was the Hardcore title. And while Vince says no one cares about ECW these days that is not totally true as evidence by WWE putting out new ECW DVDs some time soon. TNA just needs to not be a copy of ECW but the new verison of it. Find ways to reinvent and refresh the wrestling product so fans enjoy it and get excited for it.
