I said at the time they were announcing the Destination America deal that they were probably will to sign with a smaller network in the U.S. to try to replicate the relationship they have with Challenge in the U.K. None of these shows cost TNA much extra money to produce since they're using canned footage, but they probably bring in extra revenue. If nothing else, they add to the times someone can be flipping by and stumble across TNA. I think it's a good move if they were going to have downsize anyway.
I think it's a good idea, it's just more programming for them to produce and potentially make more money off of their deal.
But I question why they would put their shows in succession like that. I understand Impact having a replay immediately after the original airing due to the West Coast, but why have a "best of" show followed immediately by a recap show? Do they expect people to watch 3 hours of TNA every Saturday morning? Why not space it out?
Definitely a good move by TNA. They do have a 12 year history and could easily fill many shows. Best Tag Team matches, Best Knockouts, Best X Division, Styles, Abyss, Roode, Storm, Aries etc etc. If it brings them more income great, i'm sure it's cheap to produce. I don't think TNA have much of a market for their DVD's so why not present their product and expose it even more. 3 shows sounds promising, no matter the initial ratings.
It makes sense to start with the "names" in the early going to get channel surfers. I'm sure the Anderson special will include his feud with Bully Ray at the end of the Aces and Eights angle, which produced multiple good matches (the one where Anderson challenged Ray for the title was very good IIRC). RVD 's special will probably include his BFG 2012 against Zema Ion. He also had a really good match with Jerry Lynn at BFG 2011.
this seems like a good thing, something the IWC should like as I imagine this will be matches that are heavy on the 5 star wrestling matches. if this is something that covers TNA's entire existence then I think I'd watch to see some of the pre 2010 stuff. that would make these type of shows interesting to me.
I imagine most people would just laugh at TNA trying to cash in on a guy they never saw potential in and let go who went off and became a star elsewhere.
ROH made Punk and really solidified him as an "independent star" that's when WWE swooped in and picked him up. TNA hired Punk, had him play lackey to a 40 year old Raven before letting him go without him really achieving anything.
Admittedly TNA did give Punk a chance to wrestle a few "name" guys like Terry Funk, Shane Douglas, Sabu, Raven and Sandman which is cool but ROH (And IWA-MS also) are the only guys who should be allowed to cash in on the whole "We made CM Punk a star" stuff without it coming off as cheap or insulting to Punk.
Or she's still pissed that he walked. It doesn't make it right, but it puts a bit of perspective. They fact he isn't willing to return must only increase her ill fellings. They don't seem to be on the best terms.
CM Punk wasn't a star in ROH or TNA.
how often do people say TNA talent "X" (Roode/Aries/ect) are not stars on the big scale when not many outside of the company know who they are. the same goes for CM Punk. CM Punk was made into a big star with the help of the WWE brand.
Mr Anderson had at least 1 good match, yes? the match that always comes to mind first with Anderson was the cage match with Angle.
I hope they show more weekly ppvs and FSN footage. I notice TNA like to neglect those days. Styles/Lynn/Low Ki matches together in any combination and AMW vs. XXX was some of the earlier feuds and matches that made TNA special.(I have a tear in my eye thinking about it smh)
I would love to know what is on a Best of Set for Mr. Anderson.
Not to say his matches are bad, but what matches has he had that would be considered classic? His Lockdown 2010 match with Angle is all I could think of and you could easily put that one on the Best of Angle set.
Just to provide a little info on TNA Wrestling's Greatest Matches, these shows were produced a few years ago and have been airing in select international markets. All the matches in these episodes are within the time frame of 2009-2011. You most likely wouldn't see any matches before or after this period, unless they're producing brand new episodes, which I don't think is the case.
Im not into any of this extra stuff going onto DA .But its a huge sign that we will get good orgional stuff down the road. And that DA will want lots of IW shows on its network.
I just want new properly done One night only specials and maybe another 1 hour seconds show.
