In theory a tournament is a good idea, but it has been such a cluster fuck the last few years that I'm glad they're dropping it. I don't understand why it is so hard to book a series of wrestling matches in a tournament. Draw up a diagram. Pick your participants. Pick your winner. Then work your way backwards. A child could do it.
In 12 when it was like the G1 it was good. Other than that it was a mess, look at the first one. Why would you have 19 matches featuring Gunner and only 8 featuring The Pope?
The Pope had 9 matches in the second one and 17 in the first one. He had less matches due to a storyline injury the first series and real injury I believe in the second one.
why is it so hard to make this epic concept simple. It should be a simple elimination tournament for the world title, just like Survivor Series 1999 when the rock won. That was such an amazing pay-per-view and concept. Victory Road is a perfect name and pay per view for that concepts. Someone win the tournament and has a shot has a shot at the belt at bfg
Call the tournament bfg but is elimination and at Victory Road
Good. The specifics (House show matches, points varying by win method, etc) make it a clusterfuck. I'd much rather them take a G1/BOSJ "Round Robin" style tournament. Maybe mix it up at the end by taking the top 4 guys and putting them in a big finale ladder match or something. Simplifying it would do wonders IMO.
While people been telling me Roode vs. Lashley will be the main event I am thinking Bully Ray vs. Lashley. Bully Ray is getting push as the top babyface and headliner on tv and at house shows right now. We are only 2 months away. Bully will main event the show title or no title.
this is one of the better things TNA has done lately, with NO BFG series.
it just messed up the summer. all the heavyweight contenders are facing each other in some tournament that is just random matches, and the heavyweight champion is coasting facing guys that shouldn't be getting a title shot.
Could copy the G1 where AJ is fighting and have lasley fighting for chance to rematch for the title at any time if he wins , while all the others are fighting for a title shot at BFG
Or even better have him fighting for the chance to pick his opponent at BFG - Imagine if he won and picked a match agaist crazy steve or tigre
Glad to see it go, they honestly had no clue what they were doing with it and it really detracted from the program because of how much focus would shift to BFG series aside from last year when they spent so much time with Aces & Eights they had to half ass their way out of the BFG series to end it.
I think is an good decision, the roster is so thin now that book the BFG Series would hurt not most but ALL the on going storylines.
We know that the most important thing for TNA now is renew the TV contract with SPIKE, so is an good chance for they to raise (or at least maintain) the viewership. Maybe they can make an LIVE(keyword) Tv special where they decide the number one contender for Bound For Glory.

A live 2 hour show featuring an 8 man tournament to crown the number 1 contender for Bound For Glory featuring legitimate contenders and solid contenders would be absolutely fantastic. Your line up could be Aries, Roode, Bully, Eric Young, EC3, Jeff Hardy, Mr Anderson and Samoa Joe. Could have your final be Aries Vs Roode who you give 15-20 minutes with Roode winning and getting a shot at Lashley at Bound For Glory.
Of course this would be a night where the focus would have to be wrestling and not ECW reunions or Dixie Carter promos so it'll never happen but one can dream.
Agree with most posts here. In particular I resent the BFG Series for screwing up Aries' title reign.
A single elimination tournament over a month or so leading up to BFG would be fine. No more than two matches per Impact. 16 Wrestlers, 15 matches total (first round - quaters - semis - final)? Shouldn't be rocket science to book.
Thank god, that thing is so drawn out and a boring cluster fuck in my opinion. I'd be up for it happening if it doesn't take what seems like half a year to complete
