Default Backstage News On Sanada's Future With TNA And Wrestle-1 Allowing TNA To Use Him

Quote:
Regarding Sanada working with TNA, they are essentially getting him for free as Wrestle-1 sent him there and is paying him only his regular salary. We've noted before how the idea is that working for TNA and holding the X Division Title will make Sanada a bigger star in Japan.

It was believed that Sanada was returning to Japan full-time before the year was over but there's been talk of signing him to a joint contract where he would work primarily for TNA but go back to Japan for big shows. This would mean that he has to be somewhat protected in TNA's storylines if he's going to remain a big star in Japan. The Great Muta sees Sanada as a future top guy of Wrestle-1.

I think that looks to be the future for the 2nd tier promotions. Much like what is going on with Matt Hardy and maybe Rhino now with working RoH and TNA. I think it is a great idea that benefits both the wrestlers and the promotions. Rotating in new guys every couple weeks and keeping them for a month or two keeps things fresh. It allows for new matches and feuds while also not paying talent to just sit at home.

Sanada is being groomed for a main event run in TNA. He'll be here for a while!

Won't work

Nobody in Japan cares about the x division title. Nor do they care about TNA.

Sanada is a decent wrestler, it just depends if they use him properly.

Sanada HAD potential. Good looking guy who could easily be a teen idol with a marketable move set but I feel TNA has hurt him a lot with their poor booking and writing.

Sure, he's the X-Division Champion but how many great matches has he had in TNA? Go on, I'll wait. The answer is zero. I had high hopes for him when he had the best of three series with Tigre Uno but Sanada really should be on the show every week and every now and then he should be given a shot to prove what he can do.

Instead TNA insists on putting him in 4 minute matches and giving him a story line that was quickly forgotten about. He joins Kazuchika Okada and countless other Japanese talents in the "TNA doesn't know how to use us" pile.

I disagree with the constant comparisons to Okada, at that time TNA had a bloated roster and only 2 hours of TV, were they supposed to showcase a guy who doesn't speak English and works for another company? Okada was there to learn the sports entertainment side of wrestling and said himself that his time there helped him create the "Rainmaker" gimmick. He was never meant to be star in TNA, because that would have only benefited New Japan and done nothing for TNA. Now with their X-Div being so thin it was easy to find a spot for Sanada, and a joint-contract will hopefully give them incentive to do more with him.

Somebody better tell Muta then as he has been marketing his Wrestle-1 shows as Wrestle-1/TNA cards. Fact is Japan might care for WWE but they will take a #2 American company even if it is a far #2.

And give away top matches on free TV? But seriously while they could have booked him better it is far from over. The guy has been around for less than a year. Too many people these days expect instant greatness. Daniel Bryan started hot, went through a down cycle and still came back hot. Of course I am not comparing the talent. Just showing that careers are long and things can be turned around. Just look at recent TNA booking. Everyone said they were done going into Slammy, no one was expecting anything from Slammy, Slammy ended up real good and the Impacts have gotten much better. Give it time.

Wrestle 1 is like the 6th biggest promotion in Japan. I guess by the end of next year tna will be bump down to 4th and 5th in the states. They made for each other.

for a guy who can't speak English and therefore can't cut a promo, TNA has used him pretty well for what he can do. he's one of the X division guys and should remain around there. if TNA does end up elevating the X division with deeper/better/bigger guys, I'm not sure I really see that much left for Sanada. maybe throw him into a tag team with someone who can talk.
