Re: Will Sting lose and leave TNA?
Well, The concept of him either retiring or going to the WWE is basically always talked about at this time each year...Why?
1. Sting signs a yearly contract at this time a year every year with TNA, this always brings up the fact that his contract is coming up "In time for wrestlemania". I dont think he did it on purpose but if he did, its damn smart. It gets his name out there right as Wrestling approaches its playoff season. It gets people talking about him again, even if its always nothing but wishful thinking
2. People want him to compete at Wrestlemania at least once in his career, and they want it to be against Taker...even if the match sucks, even if both are way past their primes, Just that moment when the two Icons of this sport, are in the same ring slowly walking to the center where they glare into each others eye in front of what would be the loudest crowd in wrestling history(Think Seattle's 12th man on steroids)...WE ALL WANT THIS MOMENT, and because of that every year we start praying, hoping, and even would be willing to forge his damn name on a contract for it to happen.
3. We also know that Sting is 54, about to be 55...when you have been getting mail from AARP for 5 years, you are too old to still be wrestling, and his body, while still in great shape for his age, is not what is used to be. Its never a good sign when a guy has to wrestle in a T-shirt...what I am saying is the hour glass is running on Stings in ring career and there aint much sand left...
4. My personal standpoint, TNA has never been able to use him to the full potential of his character...he has had more characters in TNA then Jonny Depp has had characters in movies. You have crow sting, throwback sting(where he acts like he did before crow sting), Joker sting, MEM sting, Hogans best friend sting...good god, how many character changes can they possibly do here...People like me want to see what the WWE can do with him, Not that WWE has been great in the area of writing either lately, but look at the wyatts and tell me that if they wanted to they could not make Sting fully fucking Epic in a lead up to WM storyline
To answer your question, Can this be it for Sting...yes, he has always said that when the day comes that he finally feels too old for this shit, he will finish up whatever story he is on, have one last match and then off into the sunset...just like that he would be gone...Maybe he had a long look in the mirror and realized he could end up hurt at his age...who knows. Personally, if he leaves TNA its because they cant afford him anymore, in which case I would expect him to finally sign a legends contract with the WWE and retire after a short stint there and HOF induction
