Ok, time for some serious discussion. Now, Im not one of those guys that defends TNA for every decision they do, nor am I one that bashes them for every little thing they do. With that out of the way, last nights show sucked. Outside the Bully/Anderson segment, the show was an utter bore and the main event was on of the worst things I've seen in wrestling since the Jerry Springer sketch on Raw. I ended up playing Simpsons: Hit and Run more that I payed attention.
But one thing that gets me is that not only was the main event bad, but it was a missed opportunity. Lets compare this to the Mankind vs The Rock match. You know the one. Anyway, Commissioner Micheals was taken out and couldn't interfere. So The Rock comes out and later, so does the Corporation. DX come out to help Foley. Both sides make sure the odds are even and near the end start going at each other. Then Steve Austin comes out and helps Foley win. It made us want to know whats next.
Last night, everyone who could help was laid out, Magnus didn't really even wrestling AJ and the only back up AJ got was a guy pushing 60. And the end result was Magnus winning, with no really drive to watch whats next.
If they wanted to make something out of this whole thing, this is what should have happened: AJ is outnumbered and it looks like he is going to lose. Then the guys who were taken out, come back, injured, but willing to fight and looking badass as hell for it. They fight Dixie's hire goons, while AJ and Magnus keep at it. Dixie herself tries to distract AJ and is accidentally taken out by Magnus. In the confusion, AJ attacks Magnus and gets the pin. Yes, AJ wins.
Two things can happen: Dixie finds a loophole in the not having a World Title and brings out a new title saying that this isn't a TNA World title but the TNA (Insert name here) Title. She tries to hand the belt to Magnus, but another wrestler interrupts and the main event for the new title happens with Magnus winning and the other wrestler feuds with him. Two, Dixie is force to actually buy the title from AJ. She is left humiliated and it leaves her in bad position: The rest of the roster realizes that they don't need to be reliant om Dixie and go into business for themselves. It starts a new status quo were wrestlers or groups of wrestlers cutting out there own "territory" in the TNA structure with Dixie unable to do anything about it and forced to do herself.
They dropped the ball last night in this main event. As bad as it was in and of itself, the loss of opportunity makes it far worse.
