Re: Computer Keeps Turning Off.

Keeps doing it to me, never happened on this laptop on Dell - with my other one it was definitely an overheating problem. This just randomly occurred yesterday and happened three times in a space of half an hour because once it turned off, I turned it back on... played a video and it turned off.

Waiting for it to happen today, if it does - I got warranty so can take it in for repair.

Walls, can you do me a favor and open up the Management window? (Right click My Computer > click Manage)

From there, go into the system and application logs (see attached screenshot). Look to see if you see any errors around the times of the shutdowns. If there's errors in there it'll tell you what caused the error. If you see no errors, then you might be looking at dying hardware or power supply.

Spoiler for System Management:

If you have errors, please post a screenshot of the error and description. This will help me diagnose the issue

any update, WIZARD WALLS?!

Re: Computer Keeps Turning Off.

Have you ran the memory test yet that Ziggler Mark suggested? A ram stick that is going or beginning to fail could be possible as the failures can become random depending on how the memory is accessed.

Mine isn't laid out like yours. I clicked on everything and nothing brought up what yours did. Again, I'm retarded when it comes to this shit so it may entirely be me:

Re: Computer Keeps Turning Off.

I'm having the same issues. I've had the computer for like 2 years, and it has started doing this for the last month. Sometimes it turns off after a few minutes, other times it's fine for a few hours.

Re: Computer Keeps Turning Off.

I don't get a Windows log when I click on it, I just get Overview and Summery. This is what comes up:

So I just clicked errors because I assume that's where it would be.

Re: Computer Keeps Turning Off.

Ugh I'm sorry, I'm not being clear.

Double click event viewer, then it'll expand to look like mine. Once you've done that, click system logs. If you still don't have them, let me know. Sorry for being vague
