Youtube problem, could it be the browser?

I have 6 mps download and average around 5.5 on speed tests. Netflix never lags and movies stream perfectly with no buffering. But Youtube videos always pause for the video to catch up and sometimes stops and the page needs to be reloaded. About 10 percent of the time the videos play all the way through with no problems. I have seen the same thing on 2 different friends computers.

Since Netflix works perfectly could this be a Youtube problem? Maybe because so many videos are being watched around the world at the same time? Maybe it's the browser? I use IE 10 that came with the computer I bought new a few months ago.

Anyone else have this problem? Is there a better browser that might help YT videos stream normally?

My only guess is YT needs to add more power, bandwith, or something to handle all the millions of videos added each day and watched each day.

Youtube has been really slow lately. Some uploaded videos are being processed up to 24 hours. So yeah, I guess the problem is in Youtube itself.

I use Firefox and it rarely buffers. It could be the browser, but I doubt it is. It is probably a problem that Youtube has.

I don't think so, I was just downloading Breaking bad and Dexter simultaneously while watching an old ep of Nitro on youtube with no buffering problems.

Are all your plugins up to date, and are there some old ones that didn't get uninstalled, it happens, that could be interfering?

I don't think there are any plugins. I'm using the computer as it came out of the box. I think the version is IE10. But there are auto updates once in a while followed by a prompt that windows will restart in 15 minutes. I don't know if any plugins are ever added but I don't see anything new.

I think he means plugins that are in your browser. Like Abobe Flash Player plugin. You might try to update that.

Re: Youtube problem, could it be the browser?

A site like youtube is very popular than can get overwhelmed with traffic. There is also the possibility of hackers doing a DDoS attack which will hog their bandwidth. Could be your ISP as well and they will ofcourse deny it and blame your equipment, but ISP's are not immune from having issues with slow speeds.

Good idea, I'll have to check and see what plugins I have and update them. I didn't download any but I am sure some did automatically or IE came with some. I'll check, thanks.
