I'm still on DVD

"Maybe I will never be,
All the things that I wanna be. Now is not the time to cry. Now's the time to find out why. I think you're the same as me. We see things they'll never see.
You and I are gonna live forever"

As far as video quality goes, I am thoroughly satisfied with 1080p.
Especially with the next gen being 9times as powerful as the 360/PS3.

People said the same thing when HD resolution and blu ray was first announced "it's pointless" "there's no need for it", etc and look at it now. This and 4k is going to be the norm within 6-8 years.

Olympics in 4k would be the shit. I remember seeing some of it in 1080 HD (probably on a plasma because it looked so damn good) and was blown away. I finally got a chance to see the 4K HDTV demo at Best Buy and it was amazing. I was standing 3 feet away and looking at each little snowflake that made up a skiing hill.

I really need to catch the Olympics as much as possible next time around. I missed most of it because I didn't have TV service but it's seriously the only thing that would make me consider subscribing to cable (for the time that it's on).

Eh, it's better than everyone streaming shit when the infrastructure can't handle it. Especially considering you own anything on disc, but you do not own anything you stream, you're just paying $60 for access.

This. Digital is convenient but i'd much rather have my own physical copies of things.

So yeah I haven't even moved on to Blu Rat yet and they are already planning to replace it? I don't wanna say this is pointless but to an extent while DVDs are still big it kinda is. Like someone else said this would be like creating Blu ray when VHS tapes where still selling like crazy. Why not wait a few more years when DVDs are virtually instinct before replacing Blu ray?

I am all for technological advancement.

But, 300gbs? Shit. That is crazy. How much will one average length movie take up?
Also, the price. This is good for advancing this stuff, but what about the price?
Blu Rays are already pretty expensive as it is, but these?

They better have a game plan down for prices which wont hurt the sales.
