Downloading issue

Recently, I discovered episodes of a favorite cartoon of mine and was going to download them until I found out after using Torch to download them, that they didn't play on Windows Media Player, which I use to play all my saved videos. I tried using another reliable video saving device but it says there's no formats to download when I put the URL link in. What can I do to resolve this? I want to be able to have the episodes and watch them too.

Re: Downloading issue

Post the format that the video files are being saved as then people can probably help either getting them to play or converted to a format that will.

Also are they saving as actual files and not just streaming links?

Re: Downloading issue

the problem with the "download" feature that torch has built into the browser is that it saves videos in a sometimes-unplayable FLV format. This isnt to say that you cant play FLV files on a media player, it's just that media players are VERY picky when it comes to playing them. As LawOutlaw says, though, we need more information to accurately troubleshoot this problem.

Need to know what format the files are being downloaded in, and what other "reliable video saving device" you tried...Also, a link to the actual page you're trying to pull the video from would be incredibly helpful, as it'll allow us to try and replicate the issue you're having.

I think that's the issue I've been having. Whenever I come across that issue, it tells me to download more junk so I can play certain videos. I was using Savevid but they changed their whole video-saving program to where you have to download a plug-in of some sort just for it to work and I did that and it still wasn't wanting to download the videos I got from a video site (the one that's a mini version of YouTube).

Re: Downloading issue

Try to download the links using JDownloader. I use it for all my downloads and never a problem.
