Default Avast for more than a year

I read that some people on here have managed to keep the free Avast version for more than a year. How did you manage that?. Everyone I know had to move onto AVG after a year.

I dont know how to keep it*, but if you're looking for software to safeguard you, definitely give my thread in the stickies a look.

*this is to say that I've never attempted to keep it, because I dont have it installed. But you're probably looking for a cracked version via torrents.

At the end of the year it usually just asks me to verify my email, and then it's like OK we good for another year

yeah, avast has 2 different versions. A free home version and a pro paid version. You only need the free version, and it's always free, you just have to re register your name and e mail.

So, at the end of the year, it just asks you to reverify? I thought I would have to uninstall it and then give a different email address.

Nope, you will simply get a notice that your registration is going to expire. Then you have choice of upgrading to their full version or remain as the home free user. Click the home free user and your given a new registration which automatically renews your license for it.

No hassle of uninstall/reinstall or using different emails.

WAIT WUT? I just decided to install the thing. I didn't want to because of mixed reviews, but ever since my hard drive defected a couple weeks ago, I now have Microsoft Security Essentials, and Avast...good combo?

I remember back when I had Norton, shit was BOSS. And literally felt safe and didn't give a shit. Might have to splurge and get that thing back.

And if Avast is the best option so far, what is the best settings? Should I use this online security it keeps annoyingly prompting me?

It literally fucked my whole laptop up, ended up having to buy a new hard drive and a new Windows package because of it.

I've just got the free AVG one now, I don't go on any dodgy sites so I'm not that worried.

I'd go for Norton tbh; it is the best.

Norton is literally the best imo. It's the reason I checked so many torrents out while I had it. The shit was BOSS and checked to make sure literally everything was safe. Gonna go back to the main shop and ask em to put it back on, maybe.

Yeah, I think I might uninstall this avast shit, because now I'm seeing a second user account called avast software updater before I log on my comp. That can't be right.
