Dude, I had the same problem a while ago (error 105) so I Googled it and came across this fix-all: If you're using windows 7, click “Start”, and in “search programs and files”, search for "Command Prompt". When it appears at the top of the list, right click on it and then “Run as Administrator”, then at the prompt, write: "netsh winsock reset catalog" (this will reset winsock entries).
Give that a try... good luck!

Haven't tried the video downloader yet, but I may have to seeing as how Real's is shitting on me lately. Btw Bully, do you know if Torch's torrent downloader is private or not? I've used it a couple of times, but haven't gotten caught while using my dad's ISP (three strike rule), but my ISP has a six strike rule with torrents, and I've only used torrents like 3 times since I've signed up with them, my service was deactivated one day and I had to reactive, which makes me think it's public, but they mentioned that I already made a payment on my bill, so I don't know any more.
If you want my advice, try to avoid public torrent sites like TPB. A lot of the uploads on there are baits to catch people out. Checking the comments section helps, but you can still get caught out. Try to download from private trackers if you can. This is a good site for checking what private trackers are open: http://opentrackers.net/

I noticed that I was unable to navigate to localhost from Torch. So this helped me narrow down the issue to my hosts file (located in %:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc)). I opened the hosts file and forgot to put the localhost entry back in after I pirated photoshop.

Whoops

Tech support is generally horrible. I remember when I was working tech support a few years ago, we were encouraged to keep our calls as short as possible, rather than resolve the customers problem. Most of the employees around me were relying on cheat sheets, google and virtual systems because they really had no idea. Not to mention they could barely communicate decent english (at the risk of sounding racist) hell I was doing support for windows vista before I'd even had a chance to use it.

I try to avoid tech support like the plague these days because they can never accept that the problem is at their end, or just feed you some bullshit.

It depends on where you're going for Tech support. I've gotten EXCEPTIONAL support from a handful of places in the past. When I worked in NYC for a content delivery company, the tech support team I was apart of was probably the gold standard of what I'd expect when I call in for tech support.

Having said that, you're right...most tech support is shit. When I built a brand new machine about 10 years ago, I was having a problem with AOL. I called their support, and specifically opened up with "I JUST BUILT THIS MACHINE SO IT ISNT A VIRUS"...about 10 minutes in, I was met with a response read from their manual, saying "this is a virus, please run your anti-virus, and call us back!"

This back and forth game went on until I finally figured out what the problem was....
