Quickest way to add titles to video files?

Just a quick question - Does anybody know the quickest, most practical way to add titles to video files. I'm not sure if titles is the proper word. I make a lot of custom wrestling comps, and I personally think it would be neat to have a quick graphic at the beginning of every video that shows the match that's about to happen. I've done some guinea pig tests with simple blank .jpgs (My plan was to make proper graphics if I could get this working correctly), made into a .wmv using Windows Movie Maker, converted with Boilsoft Video Converter, resized to 704x400 (Size of video I'm using as a base), converted that back to an .mp4 (file type of base video), and tried to join, but they wouldn't directly join and had to be re-encoded completely.

I'm just wondering, is there any way to streamline this process? Or is this one little detail not worth the time? I'd rather not wait 10-20 minutes for every video file to re-encode.

Edit: Just watched the finished test video. Somewhere along the line, the title graphic got destroyed and is just a bunch of static. Quality of the video also seemed affected.

Edit 2: Made this up really quick in case someone didn't understand what I mean. In short, I want to take this image (Literally made in 5 minutes. http://i49.tinypic.com/4fzou8.png ) and add it to the beginning of the match itself. Just a standard fade in, show for 3-5 seconds, and fade out

Haha. I figured most answers would consist of this - I'm just curious as to what program it is that I need to pirate

For all my video editing needs, I use Adobe Premiere. It's a little bit of a steep learning curve but once you get the hang of it, its amazing. I dont know what it is you're looking to do, but see my videos below for what i use it for. You can add more detailed graphics if you want, I just tend to keep all my titles simple.

I just want to add a graphic to the beginning of a video file. Really a minor thing, mostly to add that little extra something on the DVD. The graphics would be made in Photoshop, I would just add them at the beginning for 5 seconds and have a fade in/fade out.

Don't iMovie and Windows Movie Maker do that? If not, there's Videospirirt Pro that, I think, has a free trial download.

I use Premier and After Effects, but obviously not free. Adobe Creative Suite is out there as pirated software, but they have security measures you have to be comfortable editing host files to use. Also, the Adobe programs can be intimidating at first glance if you aren't familiar with professional editing software.

I use VideoPad Video Editor and it works fine.

I accept Hayley Williams rep.

Movie Maker does do that. That's how I made the clip I wanted to add at the beginning. The problem is that Movie Maker would also distort the frame width/height, and takes a long time to save. I'm looking for a quick way to do it. Boilsoft Video Joiner seems to be the fastest to join two videos but getting the two videos the same is hard. It needs to be the same width/height, file type, and audio stream (Which I have no idea what that is) or it will need to do a complete re-encoding of the video

Re: Quickest way to add titles to video files?

If you're files are mismatched, they won't splice together well. The audio is important since that's your sound. File type will determine the final quality and, thinking about it, I'm pretty sure Movie Maker has weirdness in regards to format. A program like Premier, and Audition to clean up your audio track issues, would be ideal, but it's not quick if you don't know what you're doing.

Edit:
Someone once gave me a Movie Maker file to clean up. I couldn't get it to open properly in a real editing program. Unless the entire project came from MM, don't bother using it.

Re: Quickest way to add titles to video files?

I tried merging them in ConvertXToDVD, but it caused an audio lag. I may just add the graphic as a separate title before the match, or just leave out the graphic completely. This doesn't seem like it's worth the trouble.
