Upgrading PC Help Required

Hey guys I made this PC some time ago and I'm looking to improve it my budget will depend on what more I can get out of the motherboard really so yeah here are my current specs, I'm not sure how good or bad these are for modern games though I'm sure if I delve around enough I can find some stats

Motherboard: Asus M4A88T-V EVO
Graphics Card: Nvidia GTX 460 (1023mb)
Processor: AMD Phenom II x 4 965
RAM: 2 x 2 gig DDR3 (667mhz)

Operating system: Windows 7 - 64bit

Mainly I just want to be able to play newer games on medium settings so am unsure if for now this will suffice and if not what step to take to upgrade, for example the motherboard as I'm unsure what the next step up is, what can I say the fancy words / initials confuse me a little these days

Thanks for any suggestions on my vague request

Out of curiosity, what company makes the video card on your current build? Is it EVGA by any chance?

I think you're fine in terms of your RAM and Mobo for now. However if you mainly just want to game, I'd primarily suggest upgrading your GPU to a newer AMD card, such as a 7760 or 7770. Then you should consider a CPU upgrade depending on how much budget you have left. A quad core is definitely your best best if you want to upgrade your CPU. Alternatively, you could consider overclocking your CPU but the old phenoms tend to be quite unstable when overclocking. Your motherboard also isn't ideal for overclocking.
