Computer restarts whilst doing anything a bit strenuous, such as burning a DVD
Todays technical issue... I have had so many problems lately...
For some reason recently my computer has started restarting whenever I try to do something that runs a bit heavy, something that would make the computer run a bit slower than normal.
It's most noticeable whilst burning a DVD. I use Nero, and I will set it up and it will get to roughly 50 % and it will sound like it's loading something up or running something new, and then it will just restart. No BSOD, no explanation. It will restart like normal and then run like normal when it comes back.
I went through a phase last week of getting a BSOD whenever I tried to do anything, but that's fixed now. I was also getting an OC Fail whenever my computer started up, but again I don't get that anymore.
The computer runs fine with everything else. I did the last of my knowlege today and performed a full system reboot. It's now running as if it was the day I bought it with few files on it, I downloaded nero and the same thing happened again.
A friend of mine said it could be an overheating problem, is there any way to find this out?
I have searched Google for days but this problem occurs in different ways that I thought I would try here first.
I'm hoping it's not an internal problem but I'm beginning to think it is .
Thanks anybody for your help. I think this part of this forum is great. I have received so much help here.
Cheers.

Re: Computer restarts whilst doing anything a bit strenuous, such as burning a DVD
I love reading your posts (not b/c you have so many problems, but because you're so god damn informative about the problem)
Honestly, it could be a number of different things. Have you tried running a stress test on the machine to see if the machine crashes during that? If so, then it's not isolated to just Nero. When a BSOD isnt generated, you can still see what caused the crash. Open up event viewer in windows look for anything thats got a red exclamation point or generally-accepted "error" sign. I dont know how experienced you are with this, but if you want to look through the system logs and post anything out of the ordinary here so one of us can look at it, I know I'd love to.
But what I'd do first is start with stress testing. Use this link below:
http://www.tested.com/tech/pcs/762-h...our-pc-stable/
Use the methods their to test your hardware, and then your ram. Let me know if you have any problems or need any help. I also think that if none of that stuff turns up problems (which it should) then it could just be the CPU overheating.
But let's take it one step at a time, and try and fix this. Again, lemme know if you need help

Haha, I couldn't tell if it was sarcasm but I'm useless, man. I should have gave the specs etc, sorry about that.
Good news though! It's fixed! I wish I could tell you how though, it just began working last night. I left it unplugged for a few hours, came back and it worked. It must have been overheating and I'm going to keep an eye on it, and then use this thread for guidance if it appears again.
Thanks, Ziggler Claus!

nah it was quite genuine. So many people, when they have technical problems, come out and just say "OMG MY COMPUTER JUST KEEPS SHUTTING OFF" and dont explain the problem, or what they were doing when the problem occurred. It's good to have someone who gives a little insight as to what was going on when the issue arose. The only thing I would have wanted outside of that would've been OS, but that's really not a big deal.

It could also be the Hard Drive along with overheating but glad it stopped screwing up on you.
