No sounds on right speaker Gateway Laptop

I have a Gateway NV5812h and my cousins were over today and the sound was working fine earlier but after I came home the right speaker isn't working, I do the Test thing where each speaker plays a sounds and only the left sound work while the right sounds is not there.

Headphones work fine both ears, I tried checking for drivers on Gateway support downloads but nothing there for Vista 64 bit.

I've downloaded a bunch of codecs as well looking for Realtek Audio Manager as I read that you could fix your audio settings there, but I can't seem to download it.

Please help!

Re: No sounds on right speaker Gateway Laptop

I'm a tech support rep for another computer company and honestly this sounds like hardware failure to me, man. You might try updating the BIOS or the audio driver if you can find a download for it somewhere but that most likely won't fix it. Hate to say it but it sounds like your right side internal speaker has failed due to the fact that the headphone balance is correct while the internal speakers are not.

Slim chance, but you may look into trying a Microsoft System Restore to the November 10th. That will restore some system files and settings that may have been changed since then but from my experience, I don't feel confident that will fix it because this really sounds like hardware failure, not software. I could be wrong. I hope I am but whatever you do, good luck.

Thanks a lot, yeah I have a feeling it is a hardware issue as well, will get it fixed by a tech in my area.
