Seeking Advice on Anti-Virus Software
So I dropped some cash last night and picked up a new laptop. I'm curious as to what everyone else thinks is the best free anti-virus software to run, as well as software to detect spyware.
I'd been using avast anti-virus on my older computer, which seemed to be just fine, and I used Malwarebytes for spyware detection. Just seeking advice from anyone who may know of better software to run. Thanks. |
Re: Seeking Advice on Anti-Virus Software
Well since it sounds like you have a genuine copy of windows, you could use Microsoft security Essentials, which you can download for free. Other good programs are AVG and AVAST, which as you know is a pretty good free AV.
As far as spyware protection, I would recommend sticking with Malware Bytes, that's the one I currently use. |

basically this, and to give my opinion on this, I use a combination of superantispyware and spybot search & destroy. Both of them are free and do a more than effective job at keeping your machine clean Although I never liked avg, I always felt like they were missing something, even if they weren't Sent from my HTC Evo |

You use the exact same setup as I do; avast and malware bytes

Re: Seeking Advice on Anti-Virus Software
I have been using AVG free for years with no problems, you even get free updates to it every so often so you are protected against new virus's. I also use Spybot. My computer runs like new. But I delete temp internet files and defrag once a week too.
