The higher the Hz the less choppiness you are suppose to have. I think it could be the brand of tv. I stay away from cheap tv's like LG and Vizio. I will only buy a Panasonic or Sony to be guranteed a great picture.

Where I used to work people would return LG and Vizio tv's more than any other brand for a refund. That tells you those 2 brands arent the greatest in pic quality even with high specs.

42' Samsung something or other. Spent about 1300 or so on it but i've had it 4 years so I guess i'm happy enough with that.

Oh yeah other than the fact its only 1080i which I missed while I was buying it but oh well.

*shrug* idk, anything I read on refresh rates said that when the refresh rate is over 100hz, it could cause an image to look choppy b/c it's refreshing almost too many times. Im just going on what i'd read while researching the subject.

I have an LG 55 inch and the picture is perfect. Samsung have sharp displays as well.

The higher the refresh rate the less blur you get for fast moving images, early sets were 60hz and and fast moving objects looked too blurry so they increased the refresh rate to 120.

"Early LCD high-definition televisions had great resolution but experienced some problems when displaying fast-moving images on screen. Action movies and sporting events in particular gave early LCD sets problems. The images tended to blur as they moved across the screen. Plasma screens didn't have the same problem, giving that format the advantage when it came to high-speed television content.

The solution to the LCD problem was to increase the refresh rate. A few years ago, the first 120 hertz sets showed consumers that by doubling the refresh rate, the set could reduce the blurring effect."
