Default Converting videos - so they insert in powerpoint?

I'm having a few troubles atm, because Powerpoint won't allow me to insert videos I need to insert - due to it being a 'flv' file format. What's the correct formal to insert into powerpoint - and how can I convert it to the right format?

Thanks...

-Kenny.

Yep. Well, I'm using Real Player to download videos off of the internet, and youtube was one of the places I downloaded from.

If you use the vDownloader guide in the sticky they will save youtube vids as avi/mpegs, not flv. That may help you.

SUPER video converter will convert them if you want. Try .wmv format.

I'm using vDownloader, but I have an update with a few more problems I'm having (I'm really bad at powerpoint, and always have problems) - the videos I have converted from youtube into formats such as .avi or .MPEG, I'm using to insert into my powerpoint presentation, but when I insert and try 'preview', the video plays, but there is no sound. Is that a problem with powerpoint or the video or the way I'm inserting it?

Also, if I use 'animations automatically', what do you do so each slide is non-clickable (closeable, like so each slide you have to either click a action button or a hyperlink) - I know it's Kiosk Mode, but it doesn't seem to be working to full effect.

Sorry to be a constant bother, but help is appreciated. Thanks and regards..

-Kenny.

This might cover your video issues as powerpoint uses a different viewer then other video files as well.

http://www.playsforcertain.com/tutorial.htm

This is something I found on another forum which I believe covers what you were looking to find out about your Kiosk Mode problem.

"To disable mouse click in the presentation (so that users can
only advance to slides through hyperlinks/buttons)? Or to disable all
interactions including the hyperlinks & buttons?

To disable mouse click, simply click Slide Show > Set up show.
Under show type, select browsed at a kiosk.

If you want to disable all interactions, after setting up the "browsed at a
kiosk", add a 'lock' button (you will need to create one yourself) on the
slide. Then, insert a rectangle that covers the entire slide. Set the
transparency to 99% so that it becomes invisible. You will then need to
create a trigger so that when user clicks on the lock button, everything is
lock up."

Sounds like you might of converted the video files to a different format but not quite a standard version. Do you have the K-lite Mega Codec pack? If not I'd recommend you get it and install it.

Either from my freeware list http://rapidshare.com/files/113420410/klmcodec390.exe
or http://www.free-codecs.com/download/...Codec_Pack.htm

If after you install it and everything works out now in your presentation you still can have a problem. When you attempt to run your presentation on another machine, if that machine doesn't have those codecs you'll have these problems on that machine. This is why you want to convert the files to the most standard and basic formats which all machines pretty much recognize.

What format would be accepted as standard? I've tried MPEG and .AVI, both haven't had any audio, but have showed the video. I'll have to try that coded pack later on...
