Imo, a better and much easier solution is using The KMPlayer (Include the 'the'). You'll find it with the first google search result. Install, and you're ready to watch NSV files, and pretty much any other media file lol. There are portable versions out there, but I don't think they are fully capable with DVDs like the main install.

I choose to use this over MPC, WMP, VLC, MPlayer, WinAMP, iTunes, RP, XMPlay and foobar.

I'm not selling it or anything, it's freeware... but arguably the best multimedia player available. It's my first choice when clean installing and still use it to this date.
