Re: Using an Xbox 360 controller on PC

You need to get an Xbox 360 wireless gaming receiver that you connect to your PC.
You can pick them up on amazon..

Like chibinova said you need the wireless gaming receiver.

I just wanted to add that buying an off brand usb 360 controller can be cheaper in most cases than the receiver. I ended up buying a cheap afterglow 360 controller on sale for $10 awhile ago and it's been fine for PC gaming. The drivers for the microsoft controller generally work fine with off brand controllers.

Re: Using an Xbox 360 controller on PC

a wireless capable xbox 360 controller + the charging cable attached and plugged in to your USB will not work. And that's including after you've downloaded the software:

the wired one will, the off-brand one's will, but a wireless one won't work the attached cable. But the wireless receiver will make it work. I'm just emphasizing (becuase I walked into the same trap) that a wireless controller, even with an attached wire, won't work. has to be all the way wired or wireless + reciever.

+1. I bought mine from China and it works great with my 2 controllers.

You can not use the USB charge cable with the wireless controller. You'd have to buy a wired controller or the receiver.

like people have said before, the reason is the USB cable that charges your controller is nothing but a charge cable. it sends no data through it so that's why it wont load on PC or Mac cause its receiving no information.
