Computer shuts down because of game

I know this isn't for games, but since it is causing an issue with my computer, well then. I was playing Starcraft 2 today and out of nowhere the computer shuts down and would not start. I took it to Best Buy and it started up just fine and as you can guess, its still working since Im typing this. Any body know what the issue is and how to fix it?

The only thing I can think of that comes close to what you're describing is automated updates or a virus.

Nah, auto update would give several visual cues, plus restart the computer.

On topic: This sounds like a number of things, from a faulty gfx card, insufficient power and overheating (are you overclocking?). I'd check temps first:
For graphics cards - search for GPU temp
For CPU - search for alcpu

Sorry for lack of links. Apparently you need 10 posts to link anything. Lovely.

Post the results (along with the processor you use) here.

Re: Computer shuts down because of game

I figured it might be overheating since I just played it for a little over an hour with no problems and with an external fan on

Could be a driver issue, make sure you're up to date on your video card. Could be your power supply, could be your CPU as well. Normally you get some sort of splash screen stating an error but if it just went down it's probably your power supply.
