Default My rtmp ports are blocked?

Hi guys,

I've tested my rtmp ports and it seems that they are all blocked or aren't able to connect. I have googled how to unblock them, and have followed the instructions but it doesn't appear to have worked. Have any of you guys experienced this before, or know how to solve the issue?

Currently, I can't watch any streamed videos as it says I can't connect to the rtmp server. And on a possibly related note (I'm not sure whether it's related or not) I cannot access Internet Explorer. Fortunately, I used Firefox anyway, but I was confused that I wasn't able to go onto any web pages.

Thanks in advance.

I need to know what you googled to "open" these ports....I think you might think you know the problem, but you might be misdiagnosing the issue. Can you link me to the site that showed you how to "fix" your problem?

There were a few sites saying the same thing, so I followed the instructions. It said to go into Control Panel, Firewall Settings, Advanced Settings, and then create a new inbound rule allowing ports 80 and 1935 to be allowed. I've posted an example of the sort of thing it told me to do below:

http://manual.netdow.tv/?p=590

I think it's very possible I'm misdiagnosing the issue since I haven't had it before. Even with the ports open, it wouldn't allow me to watch streamed videos so I think that I've got the wrong idea.

well here's the thing....windows firewall is so ridiculously aggressive, that sometimes it fucks things.

Have you tried disabling windows firewall just as a test to see if you can watch videos?

You shouldnt need to open a port/add a rule to watch videos.

I've just disabled it to try and watch a video or watch a stream, and it didn't work. I can watch videos on youtube, but for example the videos on dailymail don't work.

In both cases, it says I can't "connect to the server rtmp" then a load of numbers (assuming an IP address) then either 80 or 1935.

Disable the window firewall and then check the ports.
