For the first time in 8 years: I'm not even looking forward to SummerSlam

It's usually been a great event, I've always looked forward to most. The last 8 provided us with a big time match that most were looking forward too:

2014: Brock vs Cena wwe title
2013: Bryan v Cena + Brock v Punk
2012: Brock v HHH
2011: Punk v Cena wwe title
2010: Nexus v WWE
2009: Punk v Hardy TLC
2008: Edge v Taker HIAC
2007: Orton v Cena wwe title

This year? Brock v Taker in a re match that was terrible at mania. Cena v Rollins title for title... Cena winslol and I take yet another break from the product. To make matters worse it's 4 hours this time that's gonna be dragged out with useless segments.

WWE dropped the ball on this year's summerslam. A disappointing card that doesn't feature a "big time" match.

Well you've got plenty of other options in the greatest wrestling month of the year.

Ultima Lucha, TakeOver: Brooklyn, Triplemania and I bet those backyard promotions are doing something too.

I actually feel like for the time in 8 years I'm looking forward to Summerslam.

Feels like they're really trying to make it a big deal this year.

And they didn't last year? Lesnar the most credible guy in the company vs the face of the company?

I can't see Taker/Brock matching the magnificence of the Lesnar squash match.

Taker/Brock has been awesome. Really looking forward to the show just for that.

I just hope that they don't waste Lesnar's push (which btw has been the strongest single push they've ever given anyone) by having Taker go over. Not to mention the ending of the streak will be wasted as well if it ends up just being done to get Undertaker his win back. They have to do something to get themselves out of this. I'm hoping for some Sting interference to set up the WM match that he came to the WWE for.

Doesn't feature a big time match? You honestly think Cena v Orton is a bigger match than Taker and Brock? You sir are off your fucking rocker.
Now no, but in 07 it was very fresh and it was a match that almost EVERYONE wanted to see. It was their first big time match that the crowd was really into

Yeah, I'm worried this event is going to be a big letdown and the main event may leave us disgusted depending on the finish. There really isn't a match to get excited about aside from Owens/Cesaro which I think could be great.

I just don't care about Cena enough to care about the title match, even though I am a big Rollins fan. Also, don't confuse my empathy for Cena with everyone else's ravenous hatred.

I'm actually looking forward to this years Summerslam. It looks like we will be getting Cesaro/Owens on top of Cena/Rollins (which isn't a bad match up by any means), Reigns and Ambrose vs Wyatt and Harper, put Lesnar/Taker which is actually pretty hard to call at the moment on top of it all and you've got yourself a very interesting card right now that has the potential to put on a great product.

Looks good enough.

Taker vs Brock
Cena vs Rollins title for title
Cesaro vs Owens

I'll watch these 3 matches atleast.

I think there is a 50-50 chance that Rollins not only retains, but beats Cena fairly clean. Vince could still go Cena + Sheamus on the cash-in, but both options are very viable at this point. If Rollins wins, expect him to hold it until Mania mowing down the world leading to the big redemption match and record-tying win for Cena. It all depends on what plans WWE has. I don't see really better option for Cena @ 32 than revenge for the busted face.

If you aren't jazzed for Taker-Lesnar(although its probably just a tease for the real match at WM32), then you have no soul. I expect Sting to come into play here for the interference, him and Taker to feud over the fall, and Taker-Lesnar 3 to be Taker's final match @ WM32.

Right now, it looks like we have...

- Cena Vs. Rollins: Title for Title = I swear to God if Cena wins, the level of "I Give Zero Fucks" will be unleashed and I'll be left an apathetic lump that can't muster the energy to watch Raw the next night. Overly repetitive PPV matches aside, I liked Cena at the US Title level. It kept him out of the main event and gave them a chance to create fresh matches in both the main event and the midcard. If Cena wins, we just go right back to where we were before.

- Undertaker Vs. Brock = There is absolutely no reason on this Earth to do this match again, especially if the whole idea is to just have Taker go over. What good does it do to have Taker get his win back after the loss against him was what established Lesnar as seemingly unbeatable in the first place? It would just undo all the great work they've done with Lesnar. Hopefully the match isn't a borefest like their Mania 30 match and they get out of it with Lesnar coming out on top, but I think I might be asking too much of them.

- Reigns/Ambrose Vs. Bray/Harper = Like I said in another thread, it is like Sheild Vs. Wyatts...but shitty. They've done so much damage to these guys that it is near impossible to get invested. Honestly, this feels like a standard Raw match as well, since they just love doing those tag match main event. I guess it could be worse. It could be Reigns and Ambrose Vs. Kane and Rollins for the 9th time.

- Ryback Vs. Big Show Vs. Miz: IC Title = Don't care. Next!

- Tag Team Turmoil for the Tag Titles = This hasn't been confirmed, but seems likely. It feels like every segment they do with the tag division crams every single team they have into the segment. If they aren't all wrestling each other, one of the teams is on commentary and another one does a run in. It is a tad repetitive. Oh well, it is better than where we were a few years ago with the tag team division.

- Randy Orton Vs. Sheamus = (cricket noises)......WWE hates me. OK next.

- Rusev Vs. Ziggler = OH GOD! This angle!!!! I should want to see this match, but the angle is so terrible that it has just made me apathetic to everyone involved. How does one even accomplish that?

- Owens Vs. Cesaro = They have to be doing this match, right? It'll be the sleeper hit if they do.

- Something with the Divas = The quality of matches from the Divas have noticeably improved since the inclusion of Charlotte, Sasha, and Becky. That's all good. The only concern I have at the moment is the end game....what is it? I mean what is the ultimate goal of all three teams? Do Team BAD and that unfortunately named Submission Sorority (lol) want to expel The Bellas from the WWE? Do they all want the title and if so, isn't that going to cause riffs among the teams? I'll let it go for now because as I've said, the quality of content from the Divas has gotten better, but I just hope they have a plan in place. Its WWE so unless Cena, Undertaker, Triple H, The Rock, or Lesnar is involved, it is hard to tell if they ever have a plan. What can they do with the divas at Summerslam? Maybe 3 vs. 3 vs. 3 elimination match? Maybe Charlotte Vs. Nikki for the title (Charlotte's won most of the high profile matches and tapped Nikki out, so...) or maybe leave Nikki out entirely and have the most successful member of SS (Charlotte) and BAD (Sasha) face off in a contenders match? Or why not have more than one match? Do Nikki Vs. one of them for the title and do Team SS Vs. Team BAD in a tag match or something.

I won't say Summerslam looks like a disaster waiting to happen, but there is a chance of annoying outcomes and their lame writing has hampered some matches that should be good.

Disagree. Even given the fact that the likely end of this match is a Sting interference that will lead to the real Taker/Lesnar match at WM32.. the story is a good one to tell.

From the moment the streak was broken, you could either use Lesnar to put a new star over(tried with Roman Reigns and failed), or you could make the story about Taker getting revenge for having lost at WM30 to cap his career. I predicted this was coming directly after it happened @ WM30, I just didn't think it would take this long to happen.

Either way, its a story that needs telling to really cap Taker's career, and the match @ SummerSlam will show whether or not its viable. The pull-apart promo on RAW was incredible. It should definitely be a more brawling type affair then the one @ WM30. Either way, expect Taker to look fairly strong with Sting coming in to be the party pooper.

I kinda feel the undercard is what is ruining this card. Cena/Rollins & Lesnar/Taker isnt bad by any means. Sure id rather get Lesnar/Orton and Rollins/Hhh but if we got a good undercard with those two matches id be fine but the undercard sucks.

Sasha vs Nikki - Divas Title
Owens vs Cesaro vs Ryback - Ic Title

But instead we get show vs miz vs ryback and reigns&ambrose vs wyatt&harper (a match we just saw onraw raw btw)

i kinda agree with the OP. Lesnar is awesome, and Taker is my all time favorite, but I don't think his body could hold up enough for a Lesnar beatdown. If they can somehow make it believable it might be ok, but I see them working around too many limitations. I love me some Undertaker but he needs to hang up the boots and become a manager.

We already seen Rollins tap clean in the middle of the ring, so really why do we need to see it again?

I'm not sure what else is even on the card, I haven't paid much attention lately. I'll watch it since I have the network, but I only have it because I was too lazy to unsubscribe. At least I have an NXT special to look forward to

Actually, if Brock wins, which I expect he will, it sets up a nice angle for Vince to begin forcing Undertaker into a career match. He's getting inducted into the Hall of Fame at 32 anyway, and it would make sense now that the streaks done for him to end it there. Have him because of the loss start a feud with Sting, and have a career match setup with Sting at 32. Sting wins, perfect way to walk into the sunset.

The card really is underwhelming. Glad I didn't go and buy the tickets before I knew the matches, at one point I legit considered dishing out $540 for two tickets. Takeover:Brooklyn should be a great show, I'm looking forward to that show much more..and Field of Honor although I won't be attending.
