Official GOAT Thread? Why? Bad Idea!
 

This is really bad idea imo. It will eventually end up with mark/flame wars which is inevitable. This official thread is like encouraging mark wars.

Besides whats the context of discussion here anyway? Last time I checked in the General section, these supposed "GOAT" threads were all about subjective measuring of Talent like "GOAT Charisma", "GOAT Mic Skills", "GOAT Ring Skills" etc.. and one other thread about "who's the no.4 behind Hogan/Rock/Austin" which is not even about the No.1 spot. None of this discussion pertains to "Greatest of all time" in terms of Impact in the industry.

I think the OP of those GOAT threads measuring talent, whoever it was, probably used the word "GOAT" in the title instead of using the word "Best" because comparison threads are immediately closed around here.

Anyways, my point is that you guys have created and Stickied a official thread for a topic that wasnt even being discussed, in those aforementioned threads, in the first place.

Close and remove it. Thank you.

The GOAT topic gets thrown around about half a dozen times a week, and 75% of the time, the replies are dire. Let them natter away in their own shit thread to their heart's content.

It's not like it's hurting anything

That GOAT 1-5 threads were the pinnacle of it, that can all be discussed in that thread. If it was just for the GOAT aka the #1, it get a bit boring. But most people are making it into a greatest superstars thread, which is better than "Is insert wrestler here in your top 5/10/15/20". Mark wars won't happen unless there's people like BC Hunk who really want to see one wrestler drop dead or hate their guts.

If Talent is what we're really discussing in these threads, then I suggest a official Talent discussion thread for the current roster of superstars, created and be stickied to the RAW section. This way we can avoid comparisons like "who's better on the mic? Punk or Cena?" "Who's better in the ring? Orton or Christian" etc..

That will probably be discussed in the goat thread down the road when comparing wrestlers. There'd be too many different stickied threads anyway. I'd argue the Ratings thread is a waste, but alot of people post in it and it saves the "Is __________ a draw (although I saw a thread about this with Ryback" threads most of the time.
