Re: Comparing Wrestlers to Footballers

Ric Flair = Ronaldo (the Brazilian player who won 2 world cups) = made it to the top, messy private life, outstayed their welcome, ended their career on a sad note

John Cena = Christiano Ronaldo = Huge draw, always performing

The Rock = Beckham = Never the top guy in their domain but both the biggest cultural icons to come from their respective fields

Hulk Hogan = Maradona/Pele = The biggest cultural icon...Hogan is more like Maradona in that he has messed up his reputation as he went along.

Matt Hardy = Joey Barton
Both have a history of being idiots on Twitter, both have fans which think they are great despite public opinion. One thought he was the 'saviour' of pro wrestling and the other thinks he is 'football's last angry man'. One went to Ring of Honor to seek redemption, the other went to Marseille.

How did Ronaldo outstay his welcome? He was still a very good player when he retired.

And still had it. He went home to play out his final years. He hadn't declined to a poor level you seem to be trying to make out.

Brazil are only the most successful nation in football history. Sure, the Brazilian league isn't as good as the top European leagues as Europe is the centre of all the money and power in football. But the Brazilian league is the best league outside Europe and I'd personally have it at about 6th in the World overall.
