Someone ran a tournament like this last summer via a player vs player round and whilst it was good I thought it'd be more interesting to run a similar event with the opening rounds pitting the all time greats from each major nation against one another to see who can make it to the next round.
We start then with England, from the devastating goalscoring of Dixie Dean, to the majestic magic of Duncan Edwards to 66 World Cup victory, Liverpool's European dominance, Treble glory, tears in Turin, one crazy night in Istanbul and of course the Bronze Generation, England whilst perhaps boasting the worse fan base to talent pool ratio in the history of the game, have nonetheless produced players who have played a major part in some of the sport's most iconic moments.
What's it going to be then, eh? The goalscoring Geordie machine, the tortured alcoholic genius, the ball stomping Evertonian bull, Golden Boot Gary, Fat Frank or the Mighty Mouse.
Judging on both performances for club and country, make your vote count for the greatest English footballer of all time.
